[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Enjoying my free trial, thinking about subscribing, but NOT without a way of disabling explicit songs.  My 5 year old daughter knows all the words to Blurred Lines now, including B*TCH.

Artists with explicit content won't get royalties if their songs are filtered.  Spotify don't seem to care about the users who pay for their service, otherwise it would already be done.

Really, this isn't an option yet?  Since the songs are labelled explicit, surely it would be easy to create an option to filter them out.

I don't necessarily want this for the reason that all these people with sensitive ears want this for. I want the option so that I don't have to deal with the clean versions. It seems that spotify has been trying to help these people out by listing the clean versions first and making the explicit versions hidden. That's good and all but why not just have a content blocker in the settings menu that you can choose whether or not to make explicit songs available. If activiated explicit songs will be available as the first option. If deactiviated all explicit songs will disapear. Or create profiles with certain parental restrictions. That way parents can setup spotify for their kids and have a password to deactivate it or enable the feature. Honestly they should of had something like this a while ago. I think spotify's development team is just lazy! It took them a year and a half to create a usable Android app...

I've been obsessed with Spotify since I first started premium membership. The one complaint I have is not being able to listen to the actual album versions.  (I listen to a lot of hip hop).  Some artists have a mixture of Radio and Album versions listed.   The Radio versions are so annoying!  s there no way to disable "radio" edit versions?  I'm 31 years old! C'mon now!

This would be awesome! I could actually listen to it with my kids around.

Come on Spotify, pull your finger out...let the whole family enjoy a world of music without those foul potty mouth artists spoiling the party!

Yep, need to have the ability to filter this stuff.

I like listening to the Top 100 playlist, but I can't because of all the expiit songs.  This really reduces the value of Spotify.

I would actually join if paid membership included disabling explicit lyric songs.
