[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

A way to block explicit material is a must have for me.  I think other than this glaring omission Spotify will be ideal for my wants.

Yes.. Please, Please add such filtering capabilities to Spotify.  The amount of users would greatly increase if they knew they wouldn't be listening to a Disney song from Frozen and the next song be Talk Dirty..  🙂    Please allow us to enjoy Spotify with our youth too!

Thank you.

i too would like a way to filter out explicit lyrics

HI, It  has been 2 years since you said about the explicit filter button being "under construction" I have been a member for 6 months now and have still not found this button - surely it hasnt taken you 2 years and still not achieved it?!?

I am fed up of my children listening to spotify and constantly have the words f*"k or N***er being shouted at them. This is basics, please pull your finger out and sort it or if it has been done please let me know how I activate it!

+ for this being very useful in filtering "NSFW" tracks

PLEASE NO CENSORSHIP. I hate the Explicit sign. It just depends on what norms you or your community think are right (in this space and time). I'd rather not be confronted with this judgment.

I for me would tag completely different. So you can add: Violent, nationalist (born in the usa yuk), religious content, racist or oversentimental OR just leave the listener alone!

Q: is it possible to shut this explicit-tagging of?

rwherr

Pandora does this easily and it works great. Two years after the suggestion, and still no way to filter explicit content?! Really Spotify?

BTW, it would be an OPTION! You can choose to use it or not.

Off to Pandora I go.

C'mon guys!  This request is over 2 years old!  My goodness...just do it already!

Please consider, we are a premium user family and honestly the only reason I am considering cancelling is because there is no option to disable explicit lyrics.  If it's that difficult than I guess we could start looking for a music service that does consider the entire audience and what we would like for our children and my fellow coworkers to hear.  I enjoy listening at work but have to be very careful what I play because the random lists are really offensive most of the time.

Spotify - GET WITH THE PROGRAM(MING) - Pandora has been doing this for ages! http://help.pandora.com/customer/portal/articles/24645-enable-explicit-filter. Your songs are already tagged, seriously how hard can it be to add a filter?
