[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Users need more control over what they see and hear. This is especially true for someone who pays for premium. If I am going to pay I want to have a bit more control.

Do you guys think Apple is going to stand by the Beats name without parental controls, given that Apple has done a great job implementing them on a variety of services and devices? YOU WILL LOSE CUSTOMERS if Apple adds Parental Controls to beats.

I will be one of them.

An explicit button would be ideal, especially if you enjoy using the radio feature at work.  I work in a salon and we currently use Slacker, and I would love to have us switch to Spotify, but without the ability to filter explicit content, that cannot happen.  Please enable this.

I gladly pay Pandora now since Spotify doesn't seem to want to listen to their users asking for this feature.

This is now a must have and simple, most albums have an explicit title.

Come on Spotify  a little social awarness.

I would love for a preference in spotify to replace the explicit version with an edited version. Then I could use this around kids, in my office, and easily other places.

I like Spotify's variety and would probably switch from Pandora but will not pay for Spotify until they add a filter for explicit songs.

So this has been under consideration since 1February 2012 and still no action taken. Come on Spotify, isn't it about time you reacted? 477 direct comments to this posted idea plus hundreds elsewhere (including my original one). How difficult can this be?

Indeed - having to hover your finger over the mute button all the time is not fun...

I must concor that while I love the service, I cannot use this within my home, and thus cannot pay for it (which I would otherwise be willing to do) without trusting that explicit songs are not going to be played.  I think that it is clear that adding this support is both strongly desired and would generate new revenue for spotify.  Too bad my business must go to a competitor who provides a family friendly service.
