[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Spotify please, why are you holding back?  Enough throwing this around the office, just get on it!  We would love an explicit filter!

definitely agree that this feature would make spotify premium worth keeping after my free trial. The F-word dropped loud and clear while casually listening music in the background can be inappropriate, unprofessional or embarrassing.

Why the F can't you F-ing sort this F-ing simple request?

Oh did I just break t&c of acceptable use?  Ironic really don't you think.....

Pandora has had the no-explicit option available for years..... you would think spotify could catch on.

dear spotify i have been waiting for this option for years now which you have failed to do anything about. actually you made it nearly impossible to make an explicit playlist with your futile updates now i cant find most explicit songs through my mobile app (which is the only way for me to use your service) i am officially terminating my account with you and switching to rdio you have been useless on this issue and raped my music for the last time

peace out,

a very dissatisfied customer

Just got spotify we were all lazing around Sunday afternoon so I choose the lazy sunday afternoon playlist.

MOTHER**bleep**ER THIS MOTHER**bleep**ER THAT next up and interview with a artist who had to say **bleep** in every sentence.

Nice for my 9 year old to listen to this spotify.

Perhaps I missed the explicit lyrics icon in the playlist?

You created it so you must know which lazy sunday playlist I'm talking about.

Can someone tell me where the explicit lyrics signs are on the iphone version I'm looking right now at

Fat boy Slim "You've come a long way baby" There is a song called **bleep**ing in Heaven.

Do I have to self edit all albums?

Come on spotify even itunes can give us a choice with a small symbol.

This also means that I cannot listen to new songs just incase.

I don't agree to censorship and realise that in some places these words have become acceptable but after listening to them for years growing up in a rough neighbourhood I've had my fill and would prefer not to listen to them on a lazy sunday afternoon.

Thanks for listening.

Hmmm, over two years and this hasnt become a feature. Oh we have a "nicer" looking interface, but they can't get this figured out.  This needs to become a feature or we need to know that it never will become one, lets see some motion on this idea.

For more than two years, users have requested to filter out explicit lyrics...why is this so difficult?  I have been a paid subscriber this past year but have changed my mind - I'd prefer to wait until this option is available before I go back to paying.  Please consider the thousands of requests for what appears to be a fairly technically straightforward fix.  It's not just for kids sake either - I don't care to hear it myself.  Thanks,

Nomfrankly

Just installed spotify. No explicit filter? Uninstalling. Maybe I will be back when Spotify gets it together.

This would be amazing.  I would love to hook up the speaker system at my office (medical clinic) to Spotify Radio station, but I worry that an explicit song will come on! We've been stuck to listening to the same playlist over and over ad nauseum to prevent this issue!
