[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This needs to happen! Also, I would like to expand on this idea. An option to only download/save/play clean versions of songs. This would of course mean there would have to be clean versions in the spotify database. Personally, I would love to be able to play certain songs around children without them being ruined by an f-bomb. Ideally, you could flip a switch in settings and have all your current and future songs play as edited versions of the same song.

Would be awesome to have the exact opposite filter *in addition* to this .. ie to only play/find/show explicit versions of songs.
So frustrating adding a song/album to a playlist/your music only to have to go remove it and hunt down the explicit version of the song.

Some of us love our cuss words too! 😄

Spotify, you have just lost a user because I can't filter explicit songs dispite people asking for this feature for a really long time... see ya.

rickilynn78

It can't be too difficult to add this feature.  Pandora and IHeart Radio have it.

KidCuervo

3 year customer here, also bailing on Spotify when my year is up. Still "under consideration" after 2 years even after a 53 page thread of your users asking for it.

"Thanks again for all your feedback and contributions. We always want your thoughts on Spotify!"

May I ask why?

delaine

Pandora has a preference to block explicit.  Spotify should have had it already!

thepapercranear

Yes please add the button for removing explicit content. I use it for my coffee shop/gallery and would love that feature! #helpspotify

This is the #1 thing that is barring me from listening to spotify instead of the radio.  I'd like to play top lists for listening in the car on roadtrips but with the kids in the back seat, it's not doable.  I have to resort to the radio which gets spotty at times.  Caching for offline use would be really nice but not at the expense of exposing my kids to inappropriate language.

kadivadvidak

This is the only reason that I do not often listen to Spotify. Pandora has had this option for a very long time! I would really like to listen to Spotify more often for the added variety. Please fix!!

Please add the ability to filter out songs with explicit lyrics.  If this isn't added soon, I'm going to have ot cancel my subscription.
