[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I would really like to be able to filter out explicit lyrics.

Planespotting

I've been a paying customer of Spotify since it went live in the States. Spotify is, to put it bluntly, f*cking up. I can't see any reason why this feature does not yet exist, or is not under development. I find it annoying to play an album to find that it has been censored. I understand and appreciate the presence of cuts without explicit content, but there has to be a simpler way for users to make the decision. On the iOS app especially it can be difficult to make the distinction between the multiple versions of an album.

Please, get it together. You can do better than this.

Update 11/27/2015 - just realized that my comparison to Rdio is no longer relevant (since Rdio shuttered) but I still think this is something Spotify could/should do. Keep the foot on the gas guys!

+1 for this idea

Until Spotify adds parental controls, explicit music tags and something like family accounts, Rdio will remain my family music service of choice.

Come on Spotify - lead!

Can't listen to spotify radio at work or when my kid is in the car.

Please help with the explicit lyrics. Seems like alot of artists are more liberal with using explicit lyrics, even Maroon 5.

Help!

the lack of this option makes using the radio and the related artists sections way way less useful then they could be.

Personally I'd also love to see something like a catagory option so I could restrict the tracks shown to only christian artists.  if i could have the option to restrict the radio and related artists to only christan bands the usefullness of those two sections would go from almost useless to something I'd pay extra for ontop of premium membership.

still even if that is for some reason impossible at least beeing able to auto filter out explicit junk from the radio and band listings would make it actualy possible to use the radio option wiht out having to constaly check it in between each song to make sure it's not about to play some piece of crap song.  I thought the radio was suspoed to play other artists that sound like the song I said to start the radio with, but some if the songs that it comes up with I think bouth bands would be insulted if someone said they sounded simular.

Please add a parental filter.

Please add a "no explicit lyrics & titles" button

I am looking for an acceptable alternative to Spotify, because there is so much explicit and offensive material on it.

I'm adding my request for a preferences option to exclude or avoid explicit music.

Your system functions on people's willingness to be associated with particular artists through their social networks, and I can say in my case the presence of explicit tracks on radio stations or playlists has deincentivized me to use your service as fully as I would otherwise. If artists can be made to warn the public of explicit content, we should have the option of avoiding that content.

Of course, you may say spotify is free, so stop complaining. In that case, we'll just walk away and I would prefer to avoid that. Overall, I really appreciate the service and would simply like to see it improved and the issue of allowing users to filter out explicit content seems like a no brainer. Thanks for your consideration.

This is a required feature. I cant let my kids use spotify without it. I got spotify because i didnt want my kids looking at and listening to songs on youtube.

Please Spotify enable a preference to block explicit songs completely from my user account.

This is the only thing keeping me from moving from Pandora to Spotify membership!

Please add a filter for explict content (songs and ads).
