[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Agreed.

Sexually explicit ads have no place for anyone- let alone my children.

And I can't even mute them without pausing the ad. You are saying, "Listen to sexually explicit advertising or you can't use our free service."

Not worth it.

Slacker has this feature, that is to turn off Explicit or play the radio edit version.

Want to use Spotify's recently published play list of top 100 songs of 2012 for New Year's Eve party tonight with my friends and family. Unable to do so because of explicit songs. No way to exclude those songs. Too many kids around. I also don't like to hear profanity in my music. Please add this feature.

Rlopin: If you open up Spotify's playlist in your desktop client, you can select all of the songs and copy and paste them (or just drag and drop) into a new playlist of your own.  Then just remove the songs you don't want.

This is one of my most used resources in my music classroom so this would be AMAZING! Thanks team for considering it - the sooner the better so I don't have any more oopsies 🙂

Firstly, let me say that I really like Spotify. I love the radio feature and how quickly it adapts to my musical likes. The range of msuic is seriously impressive. The pricing is fair (but not the cheapest). I love that you have a Linux client! However, a real deal breaker for me is the lack of an option to filter explicit songs. I only want it as an option. Those that like it are free to listen to whatever they want. I have young children and I really don't want them hearing this sort of stuff. Filtering these songs manually is a nuisance when using the radio feature. I'm concerned that this discussion is quite old now and despite an indication that it is being considered, nothing has been done. Please consider this as a important issue. I don't want to use one of your competitors as your service seems to be the best. An update on the status of this feature would really be appreciated.

Yes. we have been waiting too long. SPOTIFY -- we need it immediately.

Given the amount of talented engineers and the resources available to spotify, it shouldn't take much time to do this, and since they already have the data and everything, it should be fairly simple.

Creating PG or G playlist is not to solutioin when you have kids that I have given Spotify accounts and now realize they can not only get adult content, but that they are searching for sound tracks of recordings of people engaged in adult activities. If not solved soon, I will have to completely abandon Spotify as a music provider in our household.  When is Spotify going to address and fix this huge hole it its responsibility to the public, the parents and the kids.

Seems like a no brainier. The competition has it. If only they had where you could choose the specific track or spotify had basic parental controls. I can't even listen to the black eyed peas when the kids around.

Need to move from "under consideration" to in progress otherwise I'm canceling my premium account.
