[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This feature would be great. Could even replace the song with the radio edit/clean version if available. I love listening to music with my kids and we end up having to listen to the radio to hear the new popular songs so I know it has been cleaned up.

Been a paying premium single customer for a while now.  Upgraded to premium family but calling service family when it is not family friendly is a shame.  Still love service, but wish some type of parental control was available to at least premium members.  Could be another draw to upgrade.  Hint, hint.

I completely agree and this would give Spotify a leg up on their competition.  We love this service, but a challenge with the kids listening and at family gatherings...

Been with Spotify from the start but now kids are music lovers seriously thinking of changing to Apple Music as they have an easy explicit filter. Agree not currently a "family" service

Any advantage that spotify might gain by not providing this option is quickly eroded as their subscribers grow in both nunbers and age and have children - and go looking for alternatives that are increasingly easier to find

Yes! Spotify - can't you just easily make two options; stations/songs that play radio versions only (no explicit lyrics) and then another station that would play the regular song.

This seems like a simple request and I'm sure they are making enough money to do it!

I uninstalled Spotify long time now. I've rediscovered a number of great
stations on Pandora and Google Play. Spotify is now a distant memory. Never
been happier. I only hear of Spotify because this thread comes to my email.

Yeah, I can't compare Spotify to Pandora as I like to make my own playlists and listen to whatever I want, whenever I want. Just wish they added parental controls!

I want this feature so I don't have to hear clean versions of songs during playlists out of nowhere. I want the option of only listening to unedited original versions without having to listen 30 seconds in and then getting turned off by a record slip covering up the word b***h and then needing to go through and find the unedited version.

Agreed. Making this change would appeal to both types of listeners. Hope spot iffy can make it happen!
