[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

How about clean up the ads that play between songs as well? I was just listening to music which was totally fine in content but then an ad for some movie came on and the guy drops an f-bomb. Hoping my 4 yr old didn't pick up on that. Love the service otherwise but all kinds of folks listen and it would be a welcome option I think.

Hello community! Spotify here. We just wanted to check back in to say we hear you but we don't have an update at the moment. You can show your support for this idea by adding your vote. We’ll update this thread when we have more info to share.

Too late Spotify, I've stopped my premium subscription.

Cancelled and moved to Google.  I'll be back if they ever fix this but I'm skeptical.

Agree!!!  So simple of a feature to have and yet not present.  Spotify, please implement!

Have just created an explicit free playlist from Spotify's Infinite Roots & Acoustic. Link is

Since Spotify will not help us I will step into the vacumm when I can and do some clean up work on various playlists.

How many playlists are ruined by 2 or 3 explicit tracks? I put on a playlist called something innocuous like "Happy Pop" in my home (with a 2,4, 6 year old) then up pops up a song talking about niggers and cunts.

I'm very close to switching to Apple Music for this reason alone.

It's very difficult explaining to a 4 year old what n*****r or b***h means.

SneakyTodd so agree with you. Spotify cannot create even one playlist with out having one really obsene song in it. It is just their way of saying f__k you folks. I am sure that the Ek and others wonder when we are going to give it up about the button so they an quit ignoring us.
