[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Ha ha, as suspected Spotify have filtered my message above. You really couldn't make this up, they don't filter songs used by children but filter out words in a secure community forum used by adults. You should be ashamed and embarrassed Spotify. Please provide detailed reasons for this.

You would immediately get more of my money if you had this feature!!!! 🙂

Such a simple fix so I really can't see that Spotify is serious about this issue. I canceled my Spotify premium subscription and now mostly use Pandora. Once you have an explicit filter, I will come back.

Filter explicit music,,,,I Would like to see this implemented sooner than later, at least a reason why its so hard to filter the music, after 5yrs of people asking I have never heard any reason why they wont let PAYING SUBSCRIBERS filter the music. Spotify ignores us all

Please add this feature!

It's lame going through a workout radio/playlist and have to listen to songs of writters who can't intelligently convey their message.

This seems like a SUPER easy add on esp if you want to convince me to upgrade to a family account. My 9 yo doesn't need F bombs and nasty talk. Do it!

After this many pages of requests you start to feel Spotify just doesn't care and doesn't deserve our business. Too bad because I love the service but this is a major issue for me and my family. Giving them another couple months to address. Have had both services (Apple & Spotify) for awhile now and will be cancelling one soon.  At this point it's looking like it will unfortunately be Spotify.  One day when Apple dominates this space like every other Spotify will regret their short sightedness. Seems like you would want to do everything possible if you are competing with a bohemoth like Apple that sits on over $200 billion cash. I'm dumbfounded by Spotify's unwillingness to accommodate us parents.

It has been 4 years since this post was initated and there is still no filter. I am beyond disappointed at the complete lack of Spotify "Under Consideration".  It only took 4 YEARS just to get a reply so I really don't see this going any further. Just here to vent my frustration at this horrible oversight by this company.  Guess Microsoft Groove will just have to start getting my money (not that they don't take enough as it is).

The labels that produce music that children should not listen to need some conduit through which to pump (or pimp?) it onto the public, and will provide a marketing advantage to the best bidder. Enter Spotify. Pump or Pimp? Surely they don"t expect rational human beings to believe  that they will willingly expose children (without option) to filth on the justification of the high moral ground of "Not censoring music!" If there is a rational reason that a filter will not be provided so guardians (think what that word means) can have the CHOICE to protect their children, please let us know what it is. HO HUM once again at the risk of much repitition I must point out that we are NOT asking spotify to censor music, but to provide a choice for those that may wish to do so to protect those that may legally expect to be protected on a family forum.
