[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

They just don't care is all.. We should all start putting explicit
comments in this forum and see if they filter that 🙂

YES! While listening to the Disney Moana soundtrack with my 5 YEAR OLD, a "suggested song" came on with the most explicit lyrics! Here's the first few lines of the song:
"18 naked cowboys in the showers at Ram Ranch!
Big hard throbbin cocks wantin to be sucked!
18 naked cowboys wantin to be **bleep**ed!
Cowboys in the showers at Ram Ranch!
On their knees wantin to suck cowboy cocks!"

To say it was unexpected is a complete understatement!! Especially when listening to the sountrack from a KIDS movie!! 😞  I am hesitant to continue using the app if it's possible to encounter things like this.

I wouldn't mind suggested songs so much if I knew that I at least wouldn't have to hear lyrics like this!!

This issue is solved--stop using Spotify, haha: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Explicit-button/idi-p/3869

Google Music, Apple Music, Pandora, and Slacker Radio are all good options that have this feature: https://www.cnet.com/how-to/block-explicit-lyrics-in-music-subscription-services/

Spotify not only hasn't implemented this feature but also appears to wear it as a badge of honor.

Still, this hasn't deterred millions from using Spotify because they were far better than any competitors (or lack thereof). The winds are changing and there now other options that firmly compete with, if not flat-out beat, Spotify.

And on that note - I've just cancelled my subscription and am headed to Google Play Music.

Duces Spotify

An unexpected benfit for switching to Google Play is the bluetooth in my car now correctly plays the music from Google Play when I start the car and switch bluetooth autio on. Previously it would play the same old song from my phone's library everytime using the phone's media player, even though Spotify was open. Annoying. Now it plays music from Google Play. Awesome! And no explicit songs!!! Family friendly!.

I feel that it should be easier to show if a song is explicit button on the mobile app for iPhones

Can't get this feature soon enough to filter out the uncreative explicit rubbbish.

If that isn't hypocritical I don't know what is.
