[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Spotify I'm on my 30 day trial. This is a huge deal breaker! Not only because of work but also my kids! Wake up and fix your service. Every other music streaming service does it, stop dragging your feet. It seems this has been a very asked for feature for YEARS!

I moved on to Google Play. Apple Music is also good. I've never been happier. Better quality and cost and has explict removal feature. I really don't care about Spotify any more.

I signed up for Google Play but it only blocks explicit content on the Radio stations not steaming/specific songs that are explicit from even showing up and being selectable. Going to Apple to test that now... 😕

Why has this not been done. How hard can it be. I'm happy to hear explicit lyrics as an adult, but when the kids are around I want the option to ensure that they can listen to good music without explicit lyrics. GET IT DONE!

This is f*#%king ridiculous (see what I did there...😉) that it has not been added yet Spotify. I'm gonna have to go to apple music which is rubbish compared to Spotify, but I can't let my kids flip through songs and find rude stuff. Can't believe this isn't an option yet. Very bizzare choice by you. I guess once you're popular you don't have to care anymore.

Look.  I listen at work.  I can't have "I just don't give a f**k" rolling out of my office as my boss walks in the door.

This was never much of an issue for me when I had my account.  It's become a major issue now that I've set up a family account.  My kids were playing music on google music.  It wasn't an issue until I heard them request a playlist and a song started playing that I didn't recognize but had profanity all the way through.  I'm going to kill the service and move away from Spotify entirely.  I can't believe this isn't one of the first things they thought of.  How can you offer a family service and not offer filtering?

Modrev

Well after looking at Google Play I have to say the interface is not a great experience.  However it's worth it if I can keep the radio from just throwing in inappropriate language.  I don't understand how you can tag explicit songs and not allow for us to filter them out.

Come wunderkinds, it does not take this long to figure this out. We need parents controls or we are switching to Apple.

Exactly. It's even that same price now, it's only my laziness stopping me. But premium runs out in a few days and my £ will be heading back into apples overflowing bank. Is there an app to transfer my Spotify playlist to apple playlists?
