[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Why is it taking so long for you to add this feature - there are thousands of you customers requesting this and you have lost some because they cannot allow family members access due to this issue.  I work in web development and know that this is a real simple feature to add.

Your lack of response to this request is poor show!

If it is not added in the next couple of months then I will also leave spoitify as there are other options out there that do offer this feature.

Any updates? My 4 year old loves to control music and pick songs. Hoe about a kid mode?

Youtube Red and Google Play are merging to become a new service. If it has a family filter, you can bet Spotify will lose customers to them.

That is what happens when you ignore your customers who have been asking for this feature for 5 years.

In the process of testing out Pandora. If I'm content with using it before you get around to fixing this issue, say goodbye to my premium subscription. It's crazy that you haven't fixed this simple issue which other platforms have long ago.

I think it's needed. In fact, to have the option of a 'family' account without protecting children from profanity is quite irresponsible from a huge company like Spotify. Please introduce something as soon as possible. Music is a massive part of life, let's make it suitable and accessible for all ages. I look forward to some positive news in this area.

Yes, please!!!

I think the need is twofold.

#1 Explicit on / off button that simply filters out explicit language

#2 Kid Mode / account (esp for spotify family users) here you can select
which options are ok for your kids. It would take a business analyst (I
used to be one) to truly determine the needs and viability of a system
within their programming structure but if Netflix can do it then so can
spotify. I haven't put enough thoughts into how it would function but
again... They aren't paying me to so....

I cannot understand why this isn't simply an option in a menu somewhere - the files are already tagged as explicit so the majority of "work" has already been done. There MUST be financial implications for Spotify to be ignoring this feature request.
