[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I have just given up any expectations of Spotify listening to us....the evidence of this thread is that they're disinterested. I'm hoping our theoretical case study in my Law course gives us the practical grounds for legal recourse...I can feel a class action coming on!

This option is really needed. Heck, I don't want to listen to some of the explicit **bleep** let alone my kids! Really need a setting to skip songs with explicit lyrics.

I work at a bowling alley and use Spotify for the music.  Tired of having to curate my own explicit free playlists because Spotify execs are too lazy and uncaring to solve this issue!  Really people?!? Don't tell us it's too costly or difficult.  Hire a software team to get a solution. Make an on/off button, if we can put a man on the moon then this can be done.

+1 to an Explicit Filter (and/or Parental Controls in general).

Please add an option to control explicit content. I accidentally downloaded a song and now I can't delete it. Please Spotify make this happen!

I have 4 girls under the age of 10 and we all share the family plan. As of today, I am afraid we will be ending our subscription because of the non stop explicit songs they like to listen to. They hear them on the radio then go to Spotify to listen to the at home only to hear F this, F that. I will miss you Spotify.

Spotify thinks it would lose more artist and titles by screening "free speach" than not. They win, we lose unless we delete. Slippery slope.

I think they should give the consumer the choice. It's not censoring the artist, but rather giving us control of our lists of music.
