[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This is one feature where Pandora has the upper hand. There is no reason Spotify shouldn't be coming up with a solution for those who choose to censor their music.

It is almost six months and Spotify staff has had no update on this? Is it really that difficult to filter content??

There isn't always a clean version. A simple 'skip explicit' or better
still, 'don't show' would be at best an hour's work to code and test. If it
was open-source there would already be half a dozen players that did just
that.

I like this feature, I think most services have this. For example, I know for sure Pandora has this in the settings, except for with theirs, it censors the words out.

I hate that Pandora has one-upped Spotify in this one area 🙁

They should at least have it were you can set the song to automatically skip over curse words and bad parts (you can vote for that idea right here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Music-Custom-Start-amp-Ending-times-for-a-Track/idi-p/40...)

I cancelled my paid subscription and ventured over to apple music where i can actually play my music at work and in the car with kids. I'm sad as I spent years building up my playlists and enjoying Spotify but really? This is just basic to add and 5 years ignoring it? Shameful. I encourage everyone to cancel and state your reasons. They won't change anything unless it hurts their bottom line.

It's rediculus,  Why not have the radio edit as default I nor my family kids etc don't want to hear swearing, come on SPOTIFY!

I'm just starting to build up my playlist's with Apple Music. I have a family plan with Spotify but I will cancel my membership because this company doesn't care about their cusotmers. Last week I was on a road trip with my kids (11&13 yo) listening to 90's music and then a song from DMX came up and started with the "suck my Di*&" lyrics ... shame on you Spotify !!!2017-08-08_12-45-36.jpg
