[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

After using Spotify Paid and Family for years, lack of this feature is what's getting me to move to Google Play. My very young child clicks into explicit 2Chainz videos with a click of a button even though we have the age at a minimum set. Irresponsible to not even give an option to filter out explicit content. At least Google has this to some extent, but the entire industry needs to work on this.

I would love to use Spotify to teach dance class but can’t have explicit language play in class with students. This is so so frustrating!

The one thing that is holding us back from becoming Premium subscribers and/or a "Family " subscription is the lack of blocking explicit content. This also needs to be available with the Echo integration which anyone can control...even accidentally.

This has been suggested for over 5 years and there is still no plans in site? Wow, that's kindof ridiculous! The lack of this is something that would send me back over at Pandora.

It would be even better if Spotify linked the censored version of the songs to the uncensored version. When you click the toggle, it could play the censored versions from albums / playlists. It wouldn't be much for a programmer to develop this after the songs were linked

It's been 5 years.  Every other music streaming site I know of has such a filter.  You already have the tracks labeled as "Explicit" (although you've missed many, I've found), so the framework is there.  The only conclusion, then, is that you have no intent to implement this feature.  Whether it's in the name of "freedom of speech" or "artistic freedom" or whatever, we, as paying subscribers, would like to have that option.  There's no functional reason not to have it at this point except that Spotify simply doesn't want to offer it.

Please add the feature ASAP. Tired of F-Bombs and N words.

Last update over a year ago.  Is spotify still considering this?  I pay for a family account but will have to cancel if this does not become an option.

Completely support this idea. I’m getting really tired of artists swearing their way through songs; it’s not funny, it’s crass and bad taste. I support Spotify implementing a user feature to block music containing offensive language.
