[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I'm interested in getting the Family Plan. I need this feature so I know my kids aren't listening to anything inappropriate on any device they use. Thanks

Even on the family plan there is no way to exclude the explicit Songs.... I switched to Apple Music. They are the same price and right now they have a free 90 day trial.

I can't listen with my kids! Or choose what I don't want to hear.

It would be great so I can play music for the kids without worrying about bad language.

I'm a new user to Spotify and am not pleased that I cannot have songs with explicit lyrics not played without having to search for alternative versions. And now I see that this has been on request for 5 years. Not a very progressive, or sesitive to its audience type of company. Be sure that if this keeps up I will not be renewing my family subscription.

Yes to music!

No to music censorship!

Yes to be able to filter out explicit misogynistic lyrics so my children don't have to hear them.

(My children have told me they don't want to hear them).

Spotify. If you want to sell a 'Family' proposition you need a service that works for families.

Surely this is commercial common sense - even if the ethics are troubling for you.

Ask for a full refund immediately and you will get it!
