[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Ridiculous that this isn't an option. I want to let playlists and radio run freely at work without having to continuously keep tabs on the songs to manually skip songs. It's been since 2012 that this idea when up and 2016 when you "thought this was a good idea". Come on, implement this already!

How many comments is it going to take for you guys to listen?  HELLO????!!! Is anyone reading these from your company???  Do you just have this forum to placate people?  Please just implement this so I don't have to move over to itunes or Pandora that HAVE THIS FEATURE!!  Thanks!!!

So many comments!

Might as well move on now to save yourself the aggravation. This company is
catering to the jZ's of the world and afraid they will loose out to these
characters if they allow censoring of their pathic lyrics.........

I will not be renewing our family subscription because of the lethargic response by Spotify to address the issue of filtering explicit lyrics or tracks.

So I will do the filtering, and turn Spotify off completely.

They seem to have time to add pointless features like turning the app
upside down for stranger things tracks, but not for features people
actually want

Useless company ...

There's no downside to this - anybody who doesn't need the explicit song filter can just not switch it on. C'mon Spotify why are you so unresponsive on this request?

oceaneyes07

This is the main reason I use Apple Music over Spotify right now. If Spotify had a way to filter out explicit music I'd switch instantly. I personally don't care for or listen to cussing and other things in my music plus I have kids. I was very shocked when I used to use Spotify and my music would go to autoplay and have cussing in it! Please add this! I enjoy playlists and the social features that Spotify has over what Apple Music has, but the explicit music is not something I can deal with. I also see this is a thread that started in 2012! Come on Spotify catch up with everyone else!

Almost 11,000 votes. Is the feature there yet? What does it take?

Spotify's Unusual IPO Model Will Test The Company's Strength

So maybe they just don't have the money/developers to complete this task?  It's sure looking like they're in trouble and looking for a way out with this IPO.  Rough.
