[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I would like to see a parental control setting for explicit material. I am no saint but i try to bring up my children into a world of decency and   respectful  environment  whether it is listening to music , reading literature or whatever. We do not need any more vulgar, disrespect that goes on in a normal every day as we see on daytime cable tv shows which we have no control over. So would you lets us control our music listening pleasure on Spotify with what we would to hear.

I love Spotify, but it has one major fault and that is having no option to turn off the explicit content. If I could do this I would pay for a subscription. Sadly Spotify isn't  family-friendly enough to warrant spending money on it. Sort this and I will purchase.

I should be able to download the album I want, Explicit or Editted.  Please enable this feature!

Please add the explicit blocking feature.  This is a must for any music service.

Spotify officially just lost my subscription. I am now a Pandora user. I have requested this option many times as well as many of you. Enough is enough. A company like this isn't going to take action until they begin to see that they are losing money by not implementing.

I just posted to my twitter account "Yup. Spotify just lost my premium subscription because they refuse to offer a explicit filter for their music. Hello pandora_radio!"

Hoping that Spotify get's it .... This could drastically effect their company.

I encourage all you to do the same. If enough people cancel their accounts and make a switch they will hear us.

Yes thank you. At the least they could put an E icon next to every explicit song so I know if it's explicit or not BEFORE I play it in front of my parents.

I emailed customer support about the idea of creating a way to manage explicit content, and they suggested that I post here.  Here is what I wrote:

I greatly appreciate that Spotify does not censor content.  As a music lover, I understand the artistic merit of explicit lyrics.  However, I also recognize that in our society this appreciation is not universal.  I sometimes find that I wish to enjoy Spotify in situations where explicit content may be problematic, e.g. around small children, listening at work, etc.  I have had a few close calls where a seemingly innocuous playlist (such as "Have a Great Day!") throws a curve ball (like Cee Lo Green's "**bleep** You").  It's a great song, but it's NSFW.  I would like to suggest that Spotify give users more control in this area.

In particular, I would suggest that Spotify provide the following features in all platforms (including iOS which is what I mostly use):

1.  Label explicit content, including songs and playlists, and list both explicit and clean versions of a song when available (Amazon Music does this).

2.  Provide an easily accessible setting that excludes songs with explicit content (Slacker Radio does this).

3.  Allow within that setting the option of having a "clean" version of the song  played instead when available (not aware that anyone does this -- Spotify should be the first).

**bleep** **bleep** **bleep**

God darn God darn

This just streamed across my system while listening at breakfast on a sunny Saturday morning with my family.

If you censor this post - you're hypocrytes.

Please enable this feature.

P.S. Editing this comment to note that the Spotify system automatically filtered my explicit text at the top of this post, changing it to **bleep** and darn.   Hypocrytes.

Take some respnsibilty and create the feature. Your competitors do.

Its such a simple and basic thing to have, I am pretty shocked that it doesnt already have it...

If it doesnt get added soon, I will be switching back to Pandora...

Funny thing is that there is no link or way to see the "solution"

It seems that spotify is having trouble getting their act togeather on this topic.
