[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This is my most wanted feature. Please add .

I completely agree with being able to set Spotify so explicit songs do not appear, but I would equally like to be able to set Spotify to hide the duplicate censored songs.

It's very frustrating to be trying to find something and see so many duplicates, and since I like hearing things uncensored (most of the time), it would be nice to not have to wade through both versions.

Yes please create a way to filter out the explicit versions of certain songs. There are some songs that there isn't a clean version then I would like to skip that version all together otherwise I just want to hear the clean version. Unlike all of the other posters on this subject. I don't have any children, I still don't want to hear the explicit version of songs PERIOD!!!!

HUGE fan of this. I have a 7 year old that is very into music and likes discovering new tunes all the time. Unfortunately there is quite a bit out there with language I'd rather not him hear just yet. This would be a great addition.

Are there ever any Spotify Staff on these forums? this seems to be a very popular request.

I am a new user, I just paid a monthly subscription, and I thought this feature would be standard, I'm considering pulling my subscription. Why arent they responding to this request???

I would love to see this feature added. My daugter goes through my spotify account and I would like to remove the explicit songs from her choices.  Thank you!

Yes please add this, would just make it even more totally awesome!

I second that as well, or just have a clean versions and explicit version of the song like itunes and rhapsody have.

I had this problem too, wanting to share spotify with my daughter. I am working on an iPhone app that will allow me to approve a single playlist, and choose whether to allow explicit songs or not. Then the app will only show and play songs from that single playlist.

If people are interested in beta testing it before I release it to the app store, let me know.

I think thats a good idea, i have spotify playing in my store 24/7, but parents do complain when explicit content is played infront of kids, spotify should work on disabling explicit content especially on the radio so everyone can have an option to hear clean music.
