Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

I would like to share with you an example showing how customer care may differ from one platform to the other : there is currently a bug on the Deezer widget when using the Google Cast feature. Quite annoying, but  it looks like they actually CARE about us, and the answers we get don't sound like those pathetic pre-written replies :

Was there any actual reason behind it aside from saving development time and money? I thought it was a rather unused feature but it seems like I'm on the same page with a lot of people about this downgrade. I can accept the notification controls as the new way but it is not the same

To be honest, I don't want it in my notifications either.. I only needed the widget and my lock screen / AOD controls

Oh just bring the widget back! Who made the dumb decision to remove it? Probably someone who uses apple!

How STUPID do you have to be, to think that REMOVING a widget, that users have been using EVERYDAY, for YEEEARS, is a good new idea, or "improvement"?!

So REgressive! Are you **bleep**in serious???

What's next Spotify, removing the app altogether and making it accessible only via www.Spotify.com?

Has everyone updated their review of Spotify on Google play?  Unfortunately you have to give them 1 star (0 is not an option).  Here's my review, using all 500 characters, feel free to copy and paste!

Spotify no longer provide a home page widget, so I have had to block automatic updates of the app to keep that functionality. They removed this with no warning, and it's now an 'idea' to add an android widget. It was a stupid idea to remove it in the first place!

The removal of widget is unacceptable.

It is clear the company has no interests in fixing this issue amongst others - a strong reflection of the company's attitude.

Will be stopping premium service and permanently closing the account.

Moving towards Deezer.

I used the widget every day. If I wanted an iPhone I would have bought on.  Starting music from the widget is more functional then opening the app. All my other apps still have widgets. Now I have an empty hole on my screen . Please bring features back don't take them away. Thanks.
