[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

The removal of the widget is absolutely ridiculous. Why take away a feature that was working and people use? I have the problem of lock screen controls not working on my S10 as well - maybe focus on fixing that instead of removing perfectly good features.

I woke up finding my widget gone. I use this feature every day and it's so annoying that you took it away. What a joke.

This change seems completely nonsensical and against the grain. I'm a Google Play Music holdout but intended to switch to Spotify soon as GPM doesn't get the attention it once does, but at least it has a widget! I'll be sticking to it for the time being now.

I think I'll be voting with my wallet. You removed a feature I used daily and are taking an attitude to displeasure of your client base. This is a real good way to lose clients. RIP spotify you will be missed... until I decide on a new streaming platform that is.

looks like I'm never updating your app again.  May I suggest to everyone else, download the last version of the APK and turn your auto-updates off through andriod.

I would prefer to not have to open the app or find a notification to play/pause a song or podcast. I miss the widget. Seeing the big empty place on my homescreen where it use to be is jarring. I have been a premium subscriber for years, and may now check out other options.

This was a phenomenally TERRIBLE idea to get rid of the widget. I used it EVERY time I had music playing on my phone. I'm really upset that it is no longer available. The notification menu is NOT a good substitute at all. In no universe would someone rather have to pull down the notif menu instead of just going to the home screen

Let's see if Spotify deletes this comment with a link to the Twitter thread I made on how to downgrade to a working version with the widget.
