[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

First you kill radio as we know it now you remove widget support.  Are you sure you are customer focused at all?

As an android user having an easy access widget is a great feature and legit the only way I opened my spotify page.  Bring it back because your playback notfications bar is not as easy to use and I cannot directly access it from my homepage! Why remove something that is working? Bring it back!

Please bring back the widget. You have added an extra step. Spotify is not in the notification bar when it is not running. Then the app needs to be opened. Makes it way more difficult to interact. Also makes it harder to controll when carrying phone on armband. Such a simple feature, that you take away? The amount of comments this quickly should show that you removed a feature a lot of us uses. Please show that you care about the users and bring it back. This would seriously be enough reason to change to a competitor.

Well after getting to the end of this thread and realizing that spotify is not taking this matter seriously, my next step is canceling my membership and WILL NOT BE RETURNING. I will give Google play music my money as they have a widget and will work with my Google home too...

I realise the person monitoring this was probably not the one to take the decision, however I would appreciate them forwarding the following sentiment to the person who did.

Wow...you just lost over 1800 subscribers...possibly more.  1800 "customers" of yours voted to bring back this widget or some form thereof.  If each of those 1800 only subscribed to the basic premium account, this equates to over $216,000 per year.  Perhaps that is "chump" change to you.  I suspect that a number of your "customers" simply cancelled their service without bothering to research why the widget was removed.

You may have noticed the quotes around "customer".  This was intentional as I don't think Spotify actually considers those who pay for the Premium and Family plans as "customers"...merely annoyances that deign to have an opinion and prefer that their music provider at least match their competitors in terms of features and functionality.  I rarely wish this on any company...however I sincerely hope this incredibly short sighted decision causes most your "customers" (there it is again) to drop your lacluster service like a bad habit and go with a company that actually cares what their customers think.  I know I will be doing so very soon.

What were you thinking of when you removed it ?    It`s COMPLETELY NECESSARY !!!  The notification control IS NOT the same thing !!
A huge backstep over something that was working right.  Very dissapointing for premium users. VERY.

Is this because iPhones don't have widgets and therefore not worth the probably minor effort of uokeeping an already developed feature for Android users.... ?
