[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

I was _so_ confused today to notice I no longer had my widget on my home screen.... Now, having to use Spotify without it for a day, I'm **bleep** off beyond words to be honest. So, so many things just got a whole lot more difficult.

Please restore the widget immediately. It made your app useful and accessible.

Should this be professional? Remove a usefull widget without any communication before? It´s like cancel the spotify subscription but with one difference: we know, who is the customer.

Widget removal was one of the sillest recent decissions made. Firstly it's dimensions were resized from 4x1 to 3x1 making it not "centered" on my home screen anymore, hoping for it getting fixed anytime soon it got totally removed instead. I have a feeling that "improvements" that are getting introduced are what people actually don't want to see. Not to mention screen not rotating in horizontal position while being on the now playing screen quite a while ago, despite auto screen rotation being turned on, but that issue feature was already reported by people. Widget was the fastest way to access spotify, and was quite handy while eg. driving the car, as I used to have it connected by aux cabble to my radio, of course having my phone in a phone holder in horizontal position (see issue above). Swipe down menu is not a handy option, nor the lock screen menu is. So I rather would see the widget back, I doubt it was a really resource demanding thing or needed to be constantly updated and be worked on, pretty sure widget is a simple thing, isn't it?

Im hoping the response from the community has shown you how daft this idea was, it's certainly been illuminating for me as a customer given the apparent disdain you are showing for us:

Oh okay. Well go tell us in the ideas exchange and vote for that.  How many votes does it need? Not going to say. 

Oh yeah, we've put the vote as 'Not right now'. 

 

I have a family subscription and will for the first time in about 6 years be looking for alternatives to Spotify given how badly you've handled this. 

 

Or, bring the widget back and keep taking our money. Seems like a no brainer, no?

Does anyone in Spotify use Spotify on Android ?  
It seems that nobody !!!  Otherwise it's unintelligible  the remove of the widget !!!

This is the the most ridiculous update. Why would you ever want to limit usability for your customer base? Accessibility is fundamental. This makes driving less safe and life less convenient. Fire whoever suggested this and reinstate it.

Iam beyond FURIOUS that the widget stopped working and is now gone! This was the BEST way to interact with Spotify.  PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!

Wait did they say "it's a no for me" to them making us vote for a feature we never asked to be removed.  Who are these people?! I have had spotify when they first stared. I guess communication and customer satisfaction is not a concern. Well, I would like to be reimbursed for the rest of my month. I will be filing a complaint. And moving service to Amazon music!
