[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

I've never seen a product that was just consistently made worse and worse with every update the way Spotify has.

This was a stupid thing to remove. I'm going to guess that most, if not all of your android users use the Spotify widget. To simply remove it with no warning was foolish on your part, and infuriating on the customers part.  Put the widget back. 

 

DO NOT go the way of Apple and have icons only with no Widgets. This is one of the MANY reasons why I do not use Apple and will not use them because everything is Icon App based. I prefer widgets and actively want them. PUT THE WIDGET BACK.

I agree 100% with bringing the widget bac . I use it multiple times a day and it's very convenient. #savethewidget

Very impractical decision. As everyone mentioned, it's a feature that literally all other music apps offer. Not everyone uses the lock screen for their Spotify usage. It's easier to open the app with instead of the tiny icon all apps use while simultaneously giving you control of the currently playing songs without having to navigate through several screens. The last few "updates" have been very counterintuitive and visually ugly. It's harder to navigate through my music and its annoying that the app constantly asks to connect with my navigation. Simple is good, but don't get too simple for the sake of making this app more practical for a wider audience.

there was one, until my app udated last night. what happened, spotify? things getting too easy to use, gotta "mix it up" by changing everything? i'm just confused why suddenly it was gone.

It's literally painful to watch some of the stupid ideas you people at Spotify have. The widget worked fine! Why get rid of it‽ Dumbasses, bring it back. Good lord who runs this shop full of idiots.

why retire something that is used DAILY?!? yes, you "can" control things from the notifications panel, but why, when there is a super handy widget that will allow you do to it quickly?

Why in the world do we need to make an "idea" posting and then "vote" on it just to get this feature to be brought back? Absolutely asinine.

 

Thank God this is Android and those of us who can downgrade updates to an older APK... can.

( Which is what I recommend for those of you that want this feature back in the time being. )

This is ridiculous to have to request a feature that was already there and wasn't harming anything. There's no need for this arbitrary "hoop"... just re-implement the feature and admit it was a mistake to remove it in the first place instead of losing customers over it.
