[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

- This "idea" is about to reach the 4th place of the "Top Ideas" in less than 10 days...

- The top 3 ideas were submitted in 2013 and 2014...

- The next 2019 ideas are 22nd and 63rd...

 

And the only reply we get from Spotifail is "you can use the notification menu" which is basically equivalent to a middle finger.

 

My 8 years old Premium/Family subscription is now over. Proof is attached. Now enjoying a Deezer Premium subscription.

I've been experimenting with Deezer. I'm not going to lie. I'm actually enjoying the app. So Spotify, I will be cancelling your service in two weeks once my free trial is up if your next update does not bring back the widget.

I don't understand why this feature was canceled. All the the reasons given are BS responses void of detail. Clearly people are upset. Bring back the widget!

It should also be mentioned that, when looking at the top ideas, the only reason that reverting the UI isn't higher is because Spotify locked the thread without addressing most of the points people raised, and then started deleting every other thread about the UI as a "duplicate."

 

Vote with your dollars, folks. This isn't going to get better any time soon.

How utterly absurd, it seems that the job of most people at Spotify is to make it worse. It takes years to add the most basic of features, if they are ever even added at all. Removing features and breaking stuff is the top priority!

 

I can't say that Spotify is the worst software product I've ever used, but it's definitely the worst one I've ever paid for -- by far.

 

This latest, and most ridiculous change is the kick in the pants I needed to finally give Tidal a try. Seems good so far. I'll give it a month and if I still like it, good riddance to Spotify.

Day two of Deezer trial and so far so good!

Brilliant widget, UI a little different but getting used to it! 

Bring back the widget Spotify and you'll bring us back too!

I am so cross about this. Bring back the widget, I have a voucher for a year of Google play music that I got last Christmas, the only reason I pay a subscription to you rather than have free music for a year is because the widget on Google play music is **bleep**. No widget, no subscription.

I think reapplying the widget function would be brilliant in comparison to not having a widget!!

Why cant you continue to have the widget for people that want it? I cannot comprehend the move its a paid for service its like you are simplifying your design towards ios at the expense of your customers. There is clearly a demand for a widget with your users including myself who just found out it disapeared without notice (also like the radio staions which. I also found out after forum searching and phone calls permanently deleted my staions (which was the way I used spotify so lost most of my data without warning) . Seriously please bring back the widget. the codding has got to be fairly simple play pauce back forward artist name song and art work.... Its not asking for the earth any media podcast etc has widgets and a lot of android users use them... I dont want to change platforms but these changes with no option of legacy mode are really getting in the way of enjoying what otherwise is a great service. Please listen and action dont set for not right now.....
