[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Hey folks,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this idea in the Community.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

Hi there... SUPER glad the widget is back, but it's NOT resizable. And it's now massize...

SpotifyUser92

The widget isn't resizable, it keeps bouncing back to the original size, which is super big.

Is this going to be improved?

It works on my phone. I have a samsung s8 and I'm using Nova launcher. No problems resizing. What phone and launcher are you using?

Too little too late, I've already switched to a competitor. Like I warned you the day this happened, customers lost are usually lost for good. I gave you time to alter course instead of mocking your userbase. Perhaps your company losing almost 1/3 of its value has opened your eyes to the value of keeping valued services updated. But thank-you for listening to your userbase (finally). Now if you were to maybe send out free 3 or 6 month subscriptions with appologies to those users that droped your service around this time, you may entice some users back. I for one would be forced to reconsider my options.

Too late, I've moved to Youtube Music...

I am so glad this is back.

Thanks for listening, for once.

While having the widget back in the end is indeed good news, here's some bad news for Spotify.

The original reaction from Spotify regarding the feedback from the community was so bad, that I will probably never again be paying you unless I absolutely need to for some odd reason. I have found alternatives, that serve me just as well or better, for the same amount of money or less. I am fairly confident in saying, I'm probably not the only one thinking like this. Let this mistake be a reminder to you all, you exist only because your paying customers allow you to - you do not want to alienate your customers by looking down at them.

Thank you thank you for bringing back the widget!!! I've really missed it over the past few months. Now if you could just fix the reporting explicit content feature.... (the mobile app gives an error message and the desktop app doesn't have the option at all) *crosses fingers hopefully*

You provide discounts to students with other services and it's unfortunate cause we are the front line staff at all the covid 19 sites. We risk our lives everyday just like the nurses and doctors, but always forgotten. We are the first people to have contact, and we are the ones everyone comes too. We register every patient and prepare and comfort them during the process. We also deserve to be recognized, we are in the bottom of the totem pole that everyone forgets about. I'm sorry, this is just frustrating that students get more services at a great price and we don't even get a "thank you"
