[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

This is the most important feature. I will refuse to update my app until this is fixed and reintroduced. Moreover I will unsubscribe if the old versions stop working.

Even Apple Music has a widget on Android! I'm switching to Apple Music. Spotify is forgetting who their customers are.

Ridiculous.  I've literally used the widget since day 1.  I have a home screen with two widgets on it.  One for Spotify and one for my podcast app. I use it while driving.  Now the whole setup is useless.

Switching to Apple. I do not see any way to use spotify without the widget. Too expensive for an app that is making itself HARDER to use.

The widget definitely made it a lot easier to access the spotify app and my music. It is a lot harder to access the music through the notification bar. There's more gestures involved in using the notification bar. It was definitely more user friendly to have a widget right on the home screen. Almost every other music app out there has a widget so I don't understand why you'd take that away. It seems like a silly decision. I only came to this forum to voice my dissatisfaction with the removal of the widget for android. And while I'm not willing to leave because of all the music playlist I've created, I'll just have to find an APK somewhere with an older version of spotify that still has the widget until y'all fix this.

The claim that my Android device will  with still function  in the pull down menu is completely false. Several updates ago I lost the ability to access Spotify via the pull down menu function on my phone. so now I am essentially paying for a product that no longer functions properly. Which kind of puts me in the boat of people who wonder why on Earth I am paying for it at this point. You do consistently remove the things that make this a great product. And this point, I am only sticking around because I have so much music saved here. And that might not be enough to keep me for much longer. Despite the fact that I have been a paying customer for at least six years. So when a long time, loyal customer starts debating if it is time to quit then you know you have a real issue. And I am certainly not the only one based on the uproar.
