Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Okay, after a very frustrating chat with a customer "service" rep, I'm quitting premium and I suggest others do the same. I don't know why Spotify would alienate so many people when there are other ways to get what we want. Shortsighted and foolish, Spotify! Goodbye!

Widgets was the most comfortable way to use sporify.

Extremely annoying it is gone.

Im sorry but i would very much like to know the reasoning behind getting rid of the widget??? I am probably going tot go to another service now i used the widget to much and the notifications arent working correctly for spotify either. How did anyone think this was a good idea. Acctualy im canceling my subscription right now and going back to pandora

I work at Spotify and agree I loved this widget. Please bring it back.

Listen to your Premium paying customers please...bring the Android Widget back.  I use it daily.  Otherwise, I will swiftly cancel Spotify and switch to Pandora/Google Music/Amazon Music.  This change was a horrible idea.

...and by the way...I have reverted back to an older version of Spotify to use the Android Widget...auto-update is turned off.  No updating of your product until you support paying customers...the clock is ticking before I switch to one of your competitors.  Thanks for reading and hopefully acting.

As a loyal paid premium member since 2015, this news sucks. One of the best...of many, great things about Android is good widget functionality. I used the widget daily.

So who is it at Spotify that keeps making these abysmal decisions? First, they screw up the artists library, now this??? Dude must have lied on his resume to get the job. Regardless, what's the point of removing the widget? Those who believe it to be "redundant" can just choose not to use it. Spotify is getting utterly ridiculous. I have a new idea, Spotify should make a new feature that lets you transfer your saved music over to google play music or amazon music! That way we can use a streaming provider that works!

My Question or Issue:

Since Spotify made the mistake of getting rid of the widget and doesn't lisent to its premium costumers, recommend me a good alternative music streaming service that knows that a widget is a must for its users.

Actually, at this point I think Spotify does need to make a public statement as to why this happened, when was it decided, why wasn't the users asked/warned in advance, and then make a public apology for looking down on their users on these forums like they have. 

Only valid reason to make a change like this, in the way it was done, would be security issues - and then the only valid way to go about it would be being open and honest of the reason immediately. And I don't think that's what happened here.
