[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Hey folks,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this idea in the Community.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

Congratulations canceled my family premium account and switched to Deezer!..

Just leaving a comment requesting that you bring it back, my housescreen is not a homescreen without my my music widget

Thank you for removing the most used widget on my phone desktop. I will unsubscribe my family account and talk with my dollars to Google Music or Apple Music.

So you remove a feature that thousands use daily and then have the nerve to tell us to request it back and have even more nerve to call it a new feature. One star from me in the play store till this is fixed.

Great now I have to figure out how to downgrade. Anyone a developer or there? Maybe you can do a better job that these folks.

I used to love this app, but they now have come into the habit of making their product less user-friendly and incoherent. Now, being a customer of this company feels like being the worker for an employer who feigns inclusion of its workforce. They have this "ideas" forum where they claim to take into account their users input, yet when an idea that doesn't fit some unknown plan comes into play they place the "not right now" stamp on it. This company in it's early years was able to create customer satisfaction while being profitable, but now seems to be focused solely on monetary gain at the expense of a large portion of its user-base.

Yeah, trying out Play Music. As silly as that sounds, switching after years of saved music and playlists, so is removing functionality with no explanation other than "we hear you, you're wrong tho". Widgets are on everything, across all platforms, and removing them to be different speaks volumes. It's a QOL update that it's so backwards it's odd.

Removing the widget was the most stupid idea, seriously.

I have tried Deezer for a couple of days, so far so good. Looks more like old Spotify before all these nasty updates (lyrics!), so I guess I cab cancel my spotify subscription now.

BTW, for those, who is afraid of moving because of playlists, library, etc., there are free options (tunemymusic.com for example) for exporting everything between different streaming services. From my 1200 songs in spotify only ~20 were missing in deezer.

Please bring back the widget!

If they don't care about the users' complain, maybe we should change to another service.

So to you guys, 10,000 votes from users on an idea actually means "Not Right Now"??
