Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

I use this feature every day and it's a staple of my home screen. As other users have pointed out, as soon as you arent using the Spotify app, the dropdown and home screen playback controls disappear and you must reopen the Spotify app manually to bring them back. It's also wonderful to always have the album art for my last listened song on my home screen—a feature that will be dearly missed.

In the meantime, I either plan to switch to Google Play, which does have a widget, or build an Android app that interfaces with Spotify and includes a widget to use the controls. If I end up switching to Google Play, I also plan to create a script that allows users to easily migrate all of their playlists, liked songs, etc out of Spotify. Let me know if you require any help reintroducing this feature from a development standpoint.

I don't want to control Spotify from my notifications.  That's not a convenient place for me to control my music.  I want the widget back.  Your product designers are blind to the opinions of your consumers if you don't reintroduce this.

Why would anyone think that taking the widget away was a good idea? Bring it back or I'm dropping my service. 1st you take the control out of my notification bar and now the widget? Not to mention how slow it takes for controls to come up on my locked home screen

I'm might cancel my subscription. The widget was the best thing about the app, other than play music obviously lol
