Clear play queue

I have to restart my spotify when I accendently start a song from a search instead of adding it to the queue (happens often to me), would be lovely if there would be a clear button for all the songs added to the queue by spotify it self.

We're happy to announce that we have implemented the Clear queue feature on our mobile app as well.

Just open the queue and you should see the Clear all button at the top

Hey folks, you can now find a 'CLEAR' button on the Play Queue in your Spotify Desktop app.

If using Spotify on your mobile device you can check the songs in 'Up Next' and then select 'REMOVE'.

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

Amen.  Between this and the lack of movement on simply being able to sort your playlists (another feature that seems both obviously useful and not terribly difficult), it's obvious the user experience isn't a super high priority here.

Uh, guys - don't look now but this market's getting more competitive all the time.  Might want to pay attention to this stuff!

Ugh, this was the last straw.  I'm switching back to Google Music.  For anyone who hasn't tried it I HIGHLY recommend you do.  It is almost the perfect setup for music.  The only problem with Google is that new albums sometimes show up a day or two after they come out, spotify seems to get the alubms up right away.  The lack of usabliity, intelligent interface, and reasonable features however makes Spotify the loser of this battle IMO.

600 Kudos and three years later and this still isn't a thing? I just recently started Spotify and it's by far the clunkiest, most awkward user interface I've seen for music in *YEARS.* No clear button or way to add multiple playlists to the queue. Queue should be in the side bar menu rather than buried at the bottom. I'd like to see my list of songs playing *while* I'm doing other things rather than always having to switch off from the queue to search for songs.

A quick Google search alleges Spotify has over 40 MILLION active users and 10 MILLION paid subscribers as of 2014. How is it some "nasty" websites that weren't promoted by the RIAA and shut down somehow managed to create beautiful user-friendly interfaces, yet a flourishing legal service can't pull their head out of their butt to do this? It's almost as if no one on Spotify's team has actually seen and interacted with any other music player. Spotify was developed in 2006(2008 launch). GrooveShark, which recently buckled to legal problems, was created in 2007. Oddly enough, they had a spectacular user interface. The ability to "Play All" and "Play All Next." The ability to right click different playlists and add them to a single queue. The ability to clear the queue...the ability to restore the songs you had in your queue last time. Spotify's had roughly the same amount of time to provide an equally user-friendly interface. How or why they haven't is beyond me.

There is an option to clear the queue, though it is definitely not easy ... open your queue, highlight the songs you want to remove, right click, "Remove From Queue" ... janky as hell, but it does work ... nothing like a "Clear Queue" button would, but it's a start, at least.

I can't believe this question is still open. I just wanted to let you guys know that this is the reason I will not be using your service. As a programmer, the fact that you can't implement this feature in three years completely boggles my mind. And to think that a recent scrum training session I went to depicted your organization as a well-oiled agile machine! Hah!

I just joined spotify after grooveshark was closed down. Clearing the queue was an attractive feature on there and another reason I miss that site so much. As other posters have said, the queue feature on this site is a definite weak spot. Not only is the queue not visible off to the side, but unable to clear the queue? Really? Are they working in CP/M? Someone ought to be able to write this code in half a day! My queue is now a monster I can't escape. Is this the same on the premium site? If it is I'm shopping for a different serevice.

golnar

Yeah, premium has the exact same problem.  If you are going to try a premium streaming service you should try out Google Music, it is designed much better and they actually listen to user feedback and implement changes.

same here with trying to find a new online music player and this is just a huge mess with how the queue is done to it being cringe-worthy.it really ruins my organization of what i'm listening to all because of clicking on one song from a search I get hundreds and even if I skip all of those songs it just restarts ( and I have made sure that the repeat was not on and it wasn't). out of topic butt hen there is how the selection of music is with the exclusion of soundtracks and i mean more specifically nothing from video games or anime and what not (although I do not know if that is asking  too much so who knows with all those legal things).

Hi Guys

The way I empty my queue without next record playing all the time.

1  Record about 1 Minute  of the lead out track of an old vinyl record, (very quiet bit of scratching), or silence, or an announcement

2  Label it ,Track "Reset " by Artist "Queue"  and save it as Mp3  in Your Music, add it to spotify.

3  Create  playlist called  "1A Reset Queue" or whatever you like, the 1a puts your playlist at the top of the list

4  Just load  "1A reset Queue" playlist , No more tracks. just the scratchy record  to remind you its empty, or silence if you prefer.

5 The track could even be a recording saying "Playlist is Empty". "Please select album"," turn left at roundabout", you choose!

Hope It Works For You.
