Clear play queue

I have to restart my spotify when I accendently start a song from a search instead of adding it to the queue (happens often to me), would be lovely if there would be a clear button for all the songs added to the queue by spotify it self.

We're happy to announce that we have implemented the Clear queue feature on our mobile app as well.

Just open the queue and you should see the Clear all button at the top

Hey folks, you can now find a 'CLEAR' button on the Play Queue in your Spotify Desktop app.

If using Spotify on your mobile device you can check the songs in 'Up Next' and then select 'REMOVE'.

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

This is how I interpret all of these instructions people write up, bending over backwards to achieve something people shouldn't have to bend over backwards to do.

How to Empty Your Playlist (This way *really* works):

1. Burning your favorite incense, first send a soft prayer to the universe and powers that be asking that you might be given the strength and power to clear your queue and music history

2. Put out the incense with your forefinger and thumb

3. Swipe the residual soot left on your fingers across your forehead

4. Once annointed, sit at your computer and close your eyes

5. With your eyes closed, blindly navigate your desktop for the Spotify player, allowing the universe and powers that be to flow through you and guide your hand. Be patient. This is the only step that could take time for some!

6. When you manage to open the player--a clear sign your blind intent has been sanctioned by God Himself--open your queue. Don't worry kids! With your eyes open this time. =P

7. As a universe that mandates balance, in order to receive its power and cleanse your queue, you must first give back...so slice the throat of a sacrificial lamb and let its "life essence" pour over your keyboard and screen.

8. Allow the bloo-I mean life essence to dry

9. Upon removing the crusted blood, you should see that your queue and music history has been cleared. If the queue *hasn't* been cleared for some reason, just repeat these steps over again!

Helpful Tips: This method works best when channeling a celestial event of some sort. Full moon, new moon, meteor shower, any kind of eclipse, etc.

Hope this helps gais!!!

Thanks for the great idea Stress_Magnet. It shouldn't be necessary to do that in the first place.

I'm a huge Spotify fan and have been a paying customer for a few years, and I still have a year left on my account. I expect to still be with Spotify for years after that since, OVERALL, it's the best music service by far in my opinion.  But the archaic play queue makes me feel like I'm using my old Rio mp3 player from the 90s. I've been using Google's music service on my Android as they offered a free month, and even their relatively young service has a queue that can be cleared. The songs often stop for no apparent reason, but that's beside the point. lol

Please, Spotify, give us some basic queue features such as clearing the queue.

It beggars belief that this hasn't been fixed yet.

However, I can confirm that this solution works (at least in windows 8.1).

1. Go to your queue

2. Select the first song in it

3. Click edit' on the Spotify menu and choose 'select all'

4. Hold shift and press delete

This is a very basic feature that all other players have.  Make this a priority.

I really don't understand why a dev team supposed to be customer centric would deliver a feature that is not fully implemented : why on hell would i want a play queue feature that i can't empty ?

Can someone from this overbooked dev team tell me why i'm paying for unachieved features ?

Hi,

I just had this problem and I'm not sure if other have figured out a work-around yet. If you select all songs in your queue then right click you can remove multiple entries at once by selecting REMOVE FROM QUEUE. Not as slick as a clear queue button but it works.

Cheers.

Hi 2ndary,

The problem is : when i select all or a few or only one song in the Spotify queue, i don't have the REMOVE FROM QUEUE option.

I have to precise i'm talking about the Windows Spotify client, in french.

Cheers.

I seriously can't believe such a basic and essential function hasn't been implemented yet. I wouldn't be mad if they at least they didn't fix all the workarounds. Now I can't even queue on an empty playlist.

You just lost a paid subscriber.

Hi

I have just started using Spotify directly as an App on my Android pad when I am away from home after many years of using it as a source for songs on my Sonos at home.

I have to agree the "Queue" just doesn't work in a way I would call a logical way. Can't Spotify just look at Sonos/Google play music and see a fully editable/deletable Queue is what paying! users want/need/expect.

I also can't believe this thread is over 3 years old.

Thanks

So basically doesn't think that a basic feature is to be able to manually clear your queue like every other streaming service/desktop player offers from the outset?

Quite literally, this is THE major reason I wouldn't recommend any of my friends sign up for Spotify.  This is just absolute bull**bleep**.
