Clear play queue

I have to restart my spotify when I accendently start a song from a search instead of adding it to the queue (happens often to me), would be lovely if there would be a clear button for all the songs added to the queue by spotify it self.

Updated: 2020-12-17

We're happy to announce that we have implemented the Clear queue feature on our mobile app as well.

Just open the queue and you should see the Clear all button at the top

Hey folks, you can now find a 'CLEAR' button on the Play Queue in your Spotify Desktop app.

If using Spotify on your mobile device you can check the songs in 'Up Next' and then select 'REMOVE'.

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

Hey guys,

I'm a new user.

I have just tried something and worked. What I've done removed all my files from the queue.
Please keep in mind that as I had nothing but one playlist and a ***** bloated queue I just wanted to kill the queue, no matter other consequences. But, hopefully, it worked and my playlist remained untouched.
So for those of you whom would like to risk, that's what I did:
0) Quit Spotify
1) Open folder C:\Users\<write-your-windows-user-name-here>\AppData\Roaming\Spotify

2) find the files track-player.bnk and local-files.bnk

3) remove both (I think It may work removing only track-player.bnk)
4) Relauch spotify.

Be happy!

I suspect the reason the queue remain filled is to artifically boost their global 'listened to' statistics thereby encouraging more artists/labels to register their content.

I'm guessing it's about, oh, 5mins work to code and test this missing function.

Come on Spotify. Stop treating your customers with such contempt!

Thanks rmcavalcante!

A slight tweak to enable a blank play queue when starting Spotify

0) Quit Spotify
1) Open folder C:\Users\<write-your-windows-user-name-here>\AppData\Roaming\Spotify
2) Delete track-player.bnk
3) Relauch Spotify wait a few second and exit Spotify.
4) When you exit Spotify, a blank track-player.bnk will be created.
5) Mark track-player.bnk as Read-Only with Windows Explorer
6) Each time you restart Spotify, you will have a blank play queue.

Dex

If you skip a song (using the next song buttton) it will remove the song from your queue.

Seriously though Spotify? No clear queue function? This IS a basic function. I can delete a playlist, right? Why not delete my queue and start a new one?

I don't have any file that is named "track-player.bnk" :/ My girlfriend have queued 1.000.000 tracks and i cant remove them one by one Regards.

Anybody has a workaround for the Mac to clear the queue? Thanks! Equally frustrated customer.  And I thought there was something wrong with me not being able to clear the queue!

elvanmcm

Thanks Dex!! My queue wasn't huge so skipping the track trick worked for me. Thank you Thank you!!
