Clear play queue

I have to restart my spotify when I accendently start a song from a search instead of adding it to the queue (happens often to me), would be lovely if there would be a clear button for all the songs added to the queue by spotify it self.

Updated: 2020-12-17

We're happy to announce that we have implemented the Clear queue feature on our mobile app as well.

Just open the queue and you should see the Clear all button at the top

Hey folks, you can now find a 'CLEAR' button on the Play Queue in your Spotify Desktop app.

If using Spotify on your mobile device you can check the songs in 'Up Next' and then select 'REMOVE'.

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

How hard can it be to make a "Clear All" function?? C'mon.

I've basically completely stopped using Spotify on desktop now since I can't ever clear a play queue.

Since an update around November time, whenever you reach the end of the play queue, it just restarts again from the beginning, which is incredibly annoying.

I used to listen to spotify as I went to sleep, queued a nice album and left it on, but now I find the album still playing endlessly in the morning and that artist now being my all-time favourite on my facebook page (hooray, cause I want everyone on my profile to know that Enya is just the best singer ever, in my opinion).

I'm using Mac OS 10.9.2. I've been told by Spotify support to uninstall and completely purge the app and reinstall, makes no difference, the recurring endless play queue of death is now the bane of my life. When I click on another album, it just becomes the apps next "obsession".

I now use an iPad streaming to bluetooth speakers. Incredibly frustrating, especially as wifi in my end of the student house I live in is not good, it drops frequently.

Hi Spotify guys, especially Tom R -- if he is still working with you!

Like a lot of others here, I am absolutely incredulous at the fact that:

1. Spotify was supplied at all without the very simple functionality of clearing part or all of the tracks in a playlist once it has been queued to play. Literally mind-boggling.

2. That this remains an issue after first being flagged IN FEBRUARY 2012!!! (See first thread post response below). Let me see, that's -- only a little over two years ago. Seriously, I've worked for media and consumer tech companies that would have ceased to exist if they had taken TWO YEARS (sorry, sorry -- I'll stop shouting now) to resolve such a straightforward issue.

Leave it with you ... but not for much longer.

"Clear play queue Status: Not right now by TomR on ‎28-02-2012 03:15 PM Hello there, sorry for the delay,,,we have a lot of ideas to update and it´s hard to prioritize. For now if you want to clear your queue you can always play another context (another playlist, album,...) and the queue will be replaced by the new one. Then the queue will be cleared, that is the option we have 🙂 At the moment, the whole team is trying and improving basic features for a better Spotify experience. Once we have a perfect product we will start focusing on good features and ideas. We hope you can all understand this. So at the moment, we will mark it as "Not Right Now", but check this thread because we will come back to it in the future."

Sorry, just me again: the workaround supplied by TomR doesn't work. Thought you'd like to know...

What I did to CLEAR my annoying QUEUED items.

1. Removed "Queued" album from my list.

2. Log-Out from Spotify. (Important)

3. Re-start Spotify and log back to your account. Play music.

4. Add back album to Album page.

Hope this help.

It's an absolute joke that this still hasn't been fixed.  This is a basic usability issue.

HefnerHobo

This is absolutely retarded. More than two years to and no fix?

A competent android developer could implement this feature in less than 30 minutes. Pay me and I'll patch it myself!

The fact that this issue still unaddressed after this long speaks volumes about spotify and its technical team.

Come on guys. Get your act together. This should be basic functionality. I'm in the middle of my free trial period and this is something that will influence my decision whether or not I want to start paying.

I hate that if I add a track, the whole album / playlist gets queued and I have no way or removing it.

What if I want to queue up a bunch of songs and have it finish at the last song I select. It doesn't

If I select a single song from an album it queues the whole album. Ridiculous.

I hope this is resolved before my trial ends in a few weeks, otherwise I don't think i'll continue if basic features like this can't be fixed in 2 years.

mishamazor

Yes please improve the queue logic. I never get what I expect when queueing songs--songs often repeat, old song suddenly appear even after supposedly resetting it by starting a new album from the top.

TwilightSoul

It's been fourteen months since this request was made.

There are thirteen pages of comments basically supporting the request.

The Spotify team says: " ... the whole team is trying and improving basic features for a better Spotify experience. Once we have a perfect product we will start focusing on good features and ideas." [emphasis added]

What I've noticed is that since this request was made, the Spotify desktop app has undergone a major revision in which a number of "features and ideas" were added to the product that nobody has specifically asked for. Like a color change. And the new home page. And removing the Star indicators for starred tracks. And I'm sure there are many other things.

I may be a little slow sometimes to catch a clue, but the evidence suggests strongly that Spotify has decided to only pay lip service to this idea, but they think people don't actually want it, or they think it's just better this way, regardless of what users actually think.
