Clear play queue

I have to restart my spotify when I accendently start a song from a search instead of adding it to the queue (happens often to me), would be lovely if there would be a clear button for all the songs added to the queue by spotify it self.

Updated: 2020-12-17

We're happy to announce that we have implemented the Clear queue feature on our mobile app as well.

Just open the queue and you should see the Clear all button at the top

Hey folks, you can now find a 'CLEAR' button on the Play Queue in your Spotify Desktop app.

If using Spotify on your mobile device you can check the songs in 'Up Next' and then select 'REMOVE'.

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

lkawjsdflkjsdlkjsdflkj! Seriously, this is moronic. The queue will not clear at all now, this is the stupidest thing i have ever seen! Why is this not alreayd finished! It's beyond being a basic piece of functionality, how the hell could it get passed up for anything else, so stupid.

I can confirm that there is no way of emptying the queue. When trying to play an album (which is a good new feature), or a playlist, it always plays the first song, and then goes on with the queue. Only way of removing it was skipping through the songs.

It looks to me like the queue functionality has actually not been designed at all - take it back to square one, please, and do so ASAP.

I'm sure the developers are tired of hearing yet another comment concerning the queue issue, but they sure deserve it. There is no excuse why there isn't an option for clearing the queue without having to restart the player. My listening experience is being interrupted because of this issue which should be a given function for players that utilize a queue.

I have a quick solution for clearing your play queue. Create a new playlist, label it "playlist clear". Don't add any music to the list. Anytime you want to completely clear the queue just play this list and voila, there is nothing to play and therefore clears it out.

I can't believe you guys have been sleeping on this basic playlist management for two and a half years.

PS "Once we have a perfect product" never happens, so give up that dream.

It would be intressting to hear the reasons behind this design ? Can someone from spotify shed som light on this ?

While I understand your reasoning. I think this qualifies a UX defect rather than an enhancement. It's a fuzzy line, but it's very annoying especially coming from Google Music whose UX is better, but plagued by functional defects in streaming which make it unusable. Kudos for at least listening and responding to feedback where Google does not.

This is clearly the most stupid and annoying thing of whole Spotify. The only reason I keep my subscription is that it comes free with my internet account.

It is clear that the Spotify people really don't care about what their users want. Ohterwise they would have fixed this extremely annoying bug by now. I guess the only reason they baltently refuse to fix this must be commercial. Someone must be making big bucks for not allowing users to clean out a playlist they never requested in the fist place.

Shame on you Spotify. And thank you @tmzyph for your quick fix. It's much better then the one I posted about a year before, which involved deleting your profile directory.

Maybe we can force something by starting to mail / post spotify developers and management on a daily basis requesting the removal of this hideous feature.

So, with the newest update of spotify, they've made @tmzyph 's quick fix no longer work (I've been using this method for the last year, so I was quite pissed when it stopped working).

Here's a solution though:

—Go to http://www.xamuel.com/blank-mp3s/

—Download the .5 sec mp3

—Add it to your library

—Place it in the previously blank playlist

—Right-click this playlist > 'Choose as Current Playlist' whenever you want to clear the Play Queue

Viola!

This is absolute crap that this is necessary. Spotify is obviously doing this on purpose to keep the music playing and therefore keeping the ads rolling on free users. I get it, but holy hell, what an absolutely annoying "feature" this is.

Fix it, Spotify!!!!!!!

Ever since this thread has been marked as "Not right now" the developers have since never replied. Are they even still watching this thread?

I'd really like a toggle option under the settings menu to toggle this behavior (with a default on, as the developers seem to prefer it)
