Discount Family Subscriptions!

Before I made the switch from Rdio to Spotify they (Rdio) came up with a pricing model that allowed families to purchase a slightly discounted subscription.

$9.99 for single unlimited user

$17.99 for 2 family members (20% discount)

$22.99 for 3 family members (50% discount)

Would love to see a similar pricing model so the rest of the family could get in on the action!

Hey folks! We've introduced Spotify Family. With Premium for Family, you and up to 5 members of the same household can each enjoy their own Premium account. All for one discounted price of $14.99.

Thanks for your kudos in the Community--we want your feedback.

I have three members of my family on Spotify and would love to get all 5 on.

I would like to see a family plan where we can all use, have playlists share automatically with family.

We all use Sonos at home, and common playlists would be useful.

I am looking for a family plan or in the very least the ability to stream to 2 devices with a premium membership. While I understand they want to avoid the abuse of the system such as sharing your account even other streaming services, such as Netflix, allows for 2 or 3 devices to stream at the same time. I have 4 devices, 2 of which are mobile devices, and would be upset if I had to pay for a multiple accounts accounts to stream on each device. This is not the only streaming service we have and all typically allow 2-3 devices to be streamed per account.

If I had to compare to another streaming service that was just music, Pandora would let me stream on multiple devices with ad-free listening subscription for only $36 a year. Most of the time I use the radio on Spotify, but would like the ability to listen offline or remove ads, but if I am going to pay nearly $60 a year to listen to just the streaming radio and be limited to 1 device I may just renew with Pandora. I like the features that Spotify offers, but feel the limit of 1 device at a time at the increased cost may not be worth it.

Just my thoughts as I enjoy my free trial to compare with my other service before I pay for another year of service.

Great idea, most other music streaming services and iTunes allows you to do this.

One implementation is to have sub-accounts created and controlled only by the master account holder at a cost of 20% more of the monthly subscription for up to 5 devices including computers & mobile devices.

Playlists would be unique to the sub-account however can be shared between associated account users.

Why not?

Also, when are you going to add music videos?

There is a way to achieve limited functionality along these lines by:

* Downloading a playlist "available offline"

* Under application configuration you have an option to turn the instance of spotify on the mobile device offline

This way two devices can both be used under the same account, (provided at least one of them is in offline mode).

This is how I've been working around it for the moment until this feature becomes available.

I'm not winging - Spotify is aweseme and I especially like all the additional apps you can get - music has never ben this accessible.

I want to put my support behind this idea as well. I am just transitioning from Grooveshark+Pandora to Spotify. So far I have been very impressed with Spotify. I am paying $4/mo for Grooveshark but am willing to move to $10/mo for Spotify because its better in all ways except for this BIG detail. My wife and I both play music from our single Grooveshark account at the same time. Same with our Pandora, Hulu and Netflix accounts. I was very disappointed to realize that Spotify only allowed one device to use the account at a time. $10/mo is acceptibe, $20/mo is just too high to pay for a music subscription. I would like to see them add the ability to allow at least 2 devices to listen to the same account at the same time with no additional cost. If there has to be additional fees, $17/mo is still too much. Its still only ONE Spotify account. I would be willing to pay an extra $2/mo to add the ability to play from a second device.

I agree with the many posts in this section.

I wouldn't buy 2 CDs for myself and my wife so why would I have two premium accounts.

Spotify is great but family membership idea is great and able to play onto 2 or 3 devices at the same time is a must feature.

Happy to pay a slighty higher price but must be sensible.

Having subscribed to Premium I know have a 15yr old son and 12 yr old daughter who love spotify over their iTunes. With iTunes it is my account and playable on all devices in the house, however with Spotify we now have arguments as to who is going to get to listen and when on their iphones/touch.

£15 would be a good point, equivelant to 1 deluxe or 2 standard album downloads for multiple (3) device access.

Instead of using Facebook as the login we could simply have a multiuser account.
