Discount Family Subscriptions!

Before I made the switch from Rdio to Spotify they (Rdio) came up with a pricing model that allowed families to purchase a slightly discounted subscription.

$9.99 for single unlimited user

$17.99 for 2 family members (20% discount)

$22.99 for 3 family members (50% discount)

Would love to see a similar pricing model so the rest of the family could get in on the action!

Hey folks! We've introduced Spotify Family. With Premium for Family, you and up to 5 members of the same household can each enjoy their own Premium account. All for one discounted price of $14.99.

Thanks for your kudos in the Community--we want your feedback.

Great idea, I would switch from Free Account to Premium for sure if there was a Family plan under this priceing model.   Once a family plan is announce I will switch for sure, until then will prob just ride out the free account.

Defnitelly this is a MUST.

I have an Android Phone, the iPad, A logitech Squeezbox and the computer, I had two spotify account but it is a nightmare change the accounts over a over, because the devices belongs to the family and anyone can use them.  Now I have only one but we need to be sychronized all the time.

I will get a new account if I had a discount price and we could share the playlist in an easy way.

Good Idea, still too expensive at $17.99 for 2 Users. This is your most important segment. Hurry Up BTW on something here. Getting ready to cancel because of much much cheaper solutions cropping up. (Will not name companies in hopes that Spotify implements this idea.)

I do honestly like your model and platform the best.

Cheers 🙂

I will be happy to pay 14.99 (at max, sincerely) for let use spotify to my family at home and me at work at the same time. With two different user id or 'alias' so each can have our playlist.

I really hope that Spotify can come up with a family deal as soon as possible, we would go for 3-4 members. There is an other angle to this, we have an Ipad in the car at all time and some other family member is home and there should be a possibility too listen online at both places!

Ok I have 3 teens and a 20 yr old in the house --- you want them as customers eventually, right? So let me give them accounts now, for a minimal fee so you know who they are and can start to market to them. We all win. (And I quit getting the message that my account is already in use on another device!)

Spotify is missing the boat here...  Prioritize this feature in your backlog, you'll be happy you did.

I couldn't agree more. The absence of a family plan is what's really keeping me from fully embracing spotify.

Wow, Spotify just stopped on my laptop because my children are upstairs playing music on my desktop machine. This seriously decreases the value of Spotify Premium for us, having only signed up for Premium trial a few days ago. With this model, it is not very attractive.

I think Spotify should address this through a single Family account that allows multiple devices simultaneously (up to some limit like 4 or 5), not through a graduated pricing structure for multiple accounts.

Individual: One device simultaneously: $9.99/mo.

Family: Up to four devices simultaneously: $14.99/mo

I guess they are trying to avoid one guy sharing service with a few friends, but a family is a very practical model where one head of household is responsible for managing subscriptions and usage of internet service. I don't want my young children to have separate accounts, but I want them to be able to play music with my account and set up their own playlists and listen at the same time as me.

So, I wouldn't want to see a graduated pricing structure for multiple accounts, but rather a Family Account that allows simultaneous play on multiple devices, say up to 5. (I have 6 kids under twelve plus a spouse who all want to enjoy the service). We have one Cable subscription, one Netflix subscription, etc. All can be used by multiple people at same time on different devices.
