Discount Family Subscriptions!

Before I made the switch from Rdio to Spotify they (Rdio) came up with a pricing model that allowed families to purchase a slightly discounted subscription.

$9.99 for single unlimited user

$17.99 for 2 family members (20% discount)

$22.99 for 3 family members (50% discount)

Would love to see a similar pricing model so the rest of the family could get in on the action!

Hey folks! We've introduced Spotify Family. With Premium for Family, you and up to 5 members of the same household can each enjoy their own Premium account. All for one discounted price of $14.99.

Thanks for your kudos in the Community--we want your feedback.

Hello - I've had a premium sub almost since they started in the UK and have been waiting for the last year or so for news about the family account that you say you've been considering for ages now.  What's going on?  Why the lack off progress here?  I'm not going to say that I'm definitely going to use something else that does offer family accounts because I think Spotify is so good, but the complete lack of any movement at all on this is becoming very frustrating.  Please make a decision soon.

Thanks

Just thought I would chime in on this too.  I really enjoy Spotify, but am considering Rdio due to the fact I can save a little money per month since we have 2 premium accounts.

I remember reading an article saying that Family Discounts are "definitely coming" and that was over a year ago.  Spotify moves at a glacial speed in all regards, it seems.

Yep, let's make this happen!

I have a premium account, but my daughter and husband also like to use it. If services like Netflix can be used simultaneously on multiple devices for one flat fee, why not Spotify?

Also, I do love the idea of password protecting certain playlists as what's appropirate for me may not be for my 9 year old.

This idea has been a long time coming and this post reflects both the massive interest and the delay in implementation. I voted so long ago for this I don't remember when and it's obviously of extreme importance to the community.

Implementation means: happier users, more direct subscriber sales leading to more money in your (Spotify's) pocket, more users, and better negotiating power with rights holders given the increased volume of song plays.

This is a win win.  Let's get it done Spotify!

Come on Spotify, this is the only thing stopping me from subscribing!

I have an upset 7 year old and I am joining him on that front.  I have an account, but have playlists created for work, me, each of the kids (ages 2 and 7) and we cannot play more than one at a time - really a pain when spotify is on the MP3 player for 2 year old to get to sleep, on my laptop, and on our TiVo...a real bummer to have to stop rockin out to Kids Bop because it's nap time....

I'd pay a bit more for my subscription if the kids n I could do even just 2 devices at once - come on spotify - STEP UP YOUR GAME!

Like others have said, it works with Netflix, Hulu, and many, many, many other streaming services ... would be nice if I didn't have to get gouged for my 12 year old son wanting to listen to different music while I'm also listening to music ... and Netflix, Hulu, etc lets this happen for $8/mo and lower ... not a "discount" at but their regular price ... no need to "upgrade" just so a father and son can each listen to their own music ... guess I'll just go back to pirating everything ... then who gets the money?

This would be truly awesome. Although it is somewhat fun to pause the song of my wife's iPhone while she is out running by playing some of my music on the Apple TV, I would like to do both.
