Discount Family Subscriptions!

Before I made the switch from Rdio to Spotify they (Rdio) came up with a pricing model that allowed families to purchase a slightly discounted subscription.

$9.99 for single unlimited user

$17.99 for 2 family members (20% discount)

$22.99 for 3 family members (50% discount)

Would love to see a similar pricing model so the rest of the family could get in on the action!

Hey folks! We've introduced Spotify Family. With Premium for Family, you and up to 5 members of the same household can each enjoy their own Premium account. All for one discounted price of $14.99.

Thanks for your kudos in the Community--we want your feedback.

You even get 3 months FREE when you sign up for Beats.  That would make it a $260 savings for me in the first year.  That's a new Chromebook to give my daughter.

A family account is definetly needed, simular to netflix model would be ideal. The artist will actual benefit not lose out, I say this because my young children often find the music they want by downloading and streaming in ways that do not give the artist any money, I have not told them how to do this and have told them it's not something they should do. However kids are quick learners and far more technically minded than often given credit for, they also lack the ability to see into the future in the same way as an adult, don't believe me go ask a psychologist. If they had access to spotify when I am listening they would have no need to go and find the music they want else where, thats reality. This would also build a future user base, so a revenue stream for both artists and spotify. At present I am struggling to justify the £10 monthly fee as I doubt I will use the service enough to justify it, alone. Thats based on the fact that I am unlikely to listen to more than 2 albums, new to me, each month and I can usually purchase the albums I am intersted in for around £5. New pop and playlists are available to me on the radio I have already paid for in my licence fee. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Can I pay in dollars, the price would seem more reasonable then.

Add me to the list of people who will shortly have to leave spotify for Beats for the sole reason of the family plan -- reason is simple economics.  I *vastly* prefer spotify, and hope spotify can come up with something similar.

There needs to be a family plan, there is one available for Beats Music for $14.99 a month, if this type of offer doesn't become available for Spotify, I will be switching.  Hopefully a plan change is on the horizon, I'd rather stay with Spotify, but I'll pay more to have a better experience.

As this idea has been "under consideration" for over 2 years, I'm just going to assume that it isn't happening. I'm cancelling Spotify as of today, and will be moving on to Beats Music. Thanks for the good times Spotify, but I can't afford $10/month each for 5 people in my house. Beats Music, here i come.

just switched to Rdio for this reason.

I've got two active subscriptions, my wife was a student and has now got her degree so she won't qualify for the discount anymore. I love spotify, but paying for two full subsciriptions when we are only using one when we are both home seems unfair.

I've been a long time suppporter of spotify, but I will certainly be looking around for alternatives if spotify don't give a familiy discount. I will certainly vote with my feet.

I don't mind paying more for a family plan.  I actually really don't mind buying another plan for my wife (at full price) unitl you figure it out ether...

However....If I did purchase a seperate plan for my wife then how would we switch back and forth between them using the Roku, Tivo, and other streaming hardware toys that we have at our house.  We would love this but you are making it difficult to allow same household users to even just have seperate plans.  My wife would want to use the Roku or Tivo app sometimes and I would want it other times.  I am not willing to sign in and then sign out every time we want to switch.  You are missing a huge market here.  I would also imagine that families with teenagers would use a family plan too.  I don't think that charging more for this is a bad idea.  I would expect to pay a bit more for a family plan.  I left MOG for you guys because you guys get things done...Where MOG was never imporving anything.

I ran into this when searching....

What is this all about?

All the way back in 2012 it sounded like you guys were really considering this  http://www.techradar.com/news/internet/spotify-to-introduce-family-plans-1070812

I also just learned that Rdio offers this...may have to join them until you figure this out....how many years more should we wait?

Can you please figure this out...if no family plans then let us easily set up two or more accounts on our devices.  I will just buy one for my wife and she can switch back and forth.  i don't want to have to not play my music upstairs on the Tivo if she is downstairs listening on the Roku or on her phone  etc.
