Discount Family Subscriptions!

Before I made the switch from Rdio to Spotify they (Rdio) came up with a pricing model that allowed families to purchase a slightly discounted subscription.

$9.99 for single unlimited user

$17.99 for 2 family members (20% discount)

$22.99 for 3 family members (50% discount)

Would love to see a similar pricing model so the rest of the family could get in on the action!

Hey folks! We've introduced Spotify Family. With Premium for Family, you and up to 5 members of the same household can each enjoy their own Premium account. All for one discounted price of $14.99.

Thanks for your kudos in the Community--we want your feedback.

Do you have a time line on this ???

Just adding another +1.

We have SONOS downstairs where my partner is listening to Spotify pretty much every evening. I like to be able to listen to spotify on my computer upstairs while I'm working. Currently that would require me to buy two separate subscriptions - That's not a great solution for me.

The answer given to this question about Family Accounts  in the FAQ is ridiculous. Saying you can't do it becasue artists need to be paid for their products? Clearly the answer is to charge an extra fee for the family account.

If artists are paid for each listener and Spotify isn't set up to figure out how many people are listening to a recording with more than one person listening on an account -- then the real problem is a deficiency in the software not simply that the artsits need to be paid.

It is also clearly solvable as "Beats" is doing this -- it is just not as good a service as Spotify.

I don't know if this was mentioned in the other Family Account postings -- there are an awfully lot of them to go through -- but a relatively simple solution for the moment would be for the Spotify Premium account to send a user into the "Free" mode -- with advertisements -- when someone else comes online and kicks them off the paid mode without advertisements.

t least the member would be able to continue listening to music and the "payment" part is taken care of too.

This should simply be a flat fee of $5.99 extra per user you want to add to your account, get it done Spotify.

Add me to this request. We have Sonos and my 9 year old daughter occasionally plays some music through Spotify on it. This is fine but if I am trying to listen to music on my way home from work on my mobile then it will pause. I don't want to pay out another $9.99 simply so my daughter can occasionally listen to music on the Sonos at home.

It seems to me you should be able to pay a little extra to be able to use multiple devices at the same time. Perhaps pay a set amount per extra device you wish to be able to have this facility on.

I'm on board. You're currently at 36 pages of requests. Why is this taking so long?

36? I see only 34.

I've been using Beats now for over a month. I have 4 music lovers on my Beats family plan...I am in disbelief how horrible, lacking, buggy and no updates coming from BM over the time i've used it....I am at the point where I will gladly pay Spotify $40 a month for 4 accounts than give the Beta Music..I mean Beats Music a nickle, it really is that lacking and buggy.

Hello Spotify and Community,

Beats Music has come out with their "Spotify-Like" music streaming service, but I still like Spotify much better. Yes, I cheated on Spotify and went through the free trial on Beats. I didn't like their layout, and the crazy sentence thing didn't work for me at all. All the music they picked for me sucked, even after spending the time to import one of our larger playlists.

At the same time, they offer their service with streaming on up to 5 devices, simultaneously. They don't kick other devices off when you start using it on a different device. While their plan is more expensive, at $15 per month vs. $10, for a family of music lovers, it's perfect. My wife and kids are always stealing account access from me during the day.

Are you looking into making this type of plan available on Spotify? I, for one, would pay more per month to have this option and keep the layout and nearly perfect song choices your algorithms make when using radio based on a playlist. Spotify is the leader in this field, but the others are making inroads and taking customers from you. I don't want to be one of those people who jump ship, but if we have to pay $10 for each additional account we add (which would cost our family at least $40), then I'll eventually go for the more cost effective option.

Which brings up another option. Do you have discounts on multiple accounts? Say, if I purchase two premium accounts then I would get a discount on either one or both of them? If not, it's a thought to ponder when discussing your plan to stem the flow of people off of Spotify and onto other streaming music services.

Thank You,

Dean
