I uninstalled Flash a month ago. The only service I miss is Spotify. The only thing that stops you from having a HTML5 web player is you will. Google Play Music has this for years!
Calling this a "good idea" is pretty insulting.
years later still nothing. disappointing. end flash get customers make money.
Will be amazing... right now in Blackberry Playbook the webplayer don't run 😞
Spotify really needs to act on this very fast now. Most other streaming services have migrated away from Flash / Silverlight to HTML5 by now. The end of Flash is already determined. If Spotify doesn't get rid of Flash very soon, they will have serious problems and will loose their users.
Support HTML5! I refuse to install Flash on any of my devices simply due to the fact that it's an old, insecure, bulky, and annoying piece of software that should've been left in the 00's but somehow made it to the 10's. So many other services have moved away from Flash including YouTube, the service that at first refused to because of it's fear of revenue loss. If everyone else can do it, it's about time that one of my favorite services, Spotify, does too.
I didn't read the eight pages, so sorry if I am repeating others.
I just tried play.spotify.com as the Linux client is not compatible with Ubuntu 16.04 and it told me to install Flash which I am not going to do.
Flash is the biggest security hole nowadays and the first thing I do when installing Chrome somewhere is to go to about:flags and disable it.

It hit my eyes somewhere in the top that there is some issue with DRM and HTML5. Assuming it means you have no idea which to use for it, Google Chrome ships with Widevine https://www.widevine.com/ so it shoudl be supported everywhere.
Now we have 2016 and this site still needs flash... 😕
C'mon guys, flash is dead and should rest in pieces 😉
If encryption is the only reason which keeps you using flash for the player, there are already some js-libs with good performance like this here: https://code.google.com/archive/p/crypto-js/
cheers,
chris
Boo. Even Adobe has said Flash is on its wayt out. Move on, Spotify! At least with Apple Music I can open up iTunes on my Mac or PC and get access to anything you offer. About to switch over this.
@acpaulley if you can install itunes then Spotify should be no problem. the desktop software iirc doesnt need flash.

Hey everyone! We can confirm this very popular idea is now fully implemented. The new Web Player uses HTML5 technologies solely. Thanks for your continued feedback in the Idea Exchange!
