Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

I cannot understand why this has not been fixed yet. It is as simple as a toggle switch in the settings. This should seriously not take more than a day for a developer, and will hugely improve the user experience. Give me the freedom to turn off functions that make my listening experience worse.

The reason I don't like it is, I can't be distracted while listening to a playlist while working. I want it on shuffle, but if smart shuffle creeps in/on (which it seems to do for some shady reason), and I hear a song I like, the distraction has me go back to Spotify to see if I've had it in my playlist already or if I have to add it. This is more of an issue than it sounds!

Bumping this. The toggle never stays and it interrupts my work flow which for someone on the spectrum is extremely jarring. This was posted over a year ago and the issue has only gotten worse for me.

Smart shuffle is the most annoying things I've seen in an app.
