[Playlists] Only selected Playlist Authors for Collaborative Playlist

Hi!

Recently, me and a few friends have started to get this kick ass playlist together of the music we all share and like. Obviously Spotify is the best way to do this. However, a playlist can only be managed by one single user.

Wouldn't it be a great idea that the 'founder' of the playlist can assign co-authors?

Would love to hear the feedback!

Hey everyone,

We're happy to announce that you will soon have new options for managing collaborative playlists - they are rolling out to everyone over the coming weeks.

Users will have the ability to review who currently has access to individual playlists, share collaborative playlists with large public groups, or keep them small and private for that special tightly-knit group of friends.

You will be able to:
  • Pick your favorites. As a playlist creator, you can now invite or remove users from collaborating on your playlists, meaning there’s more control over who has access to editing the content you love.
  • Share privately. You can now set your collaborative playlists to private, so no one can view, search, listen to or share a playlist– except for those chosen few who have been invited or given collaborative access.
  • Change your mind? At any given time, a playlist owner has the power to see, add and remove who gets to collaborate and follow their playlists.
For details on how the feature works, see:

Because of this change, this other idea is also being implemented.

If you don't see this yet, don't worry. Just make sure to keep your app up to date and it should be available for you soon.

Thanks for giving us your feedback in the Community.

Getting spammed by bots in one of my collaborative playlists. This feature will make Spotify resilient to such attacks.

Yes please, can't get this feature soon enough! These bots and unauthorized additions to friend-built playlists are a menace.

I had 3 random profiles, which looked like bots to me, hijack my playlist that had months of collaborative efforts between friends.

Spotify NEEDS to create an option where we can create a private collaborative playlist. Meaning the playlist owner can provide authorization to other users to add/remove tracks. And those added users are the only ones that can do so - not anyone from Spotify how it currently is.

Currently, the fail safe that the collaborative playlist only being available to those sent the URL is a failure. Random people or bots are hacking those URLs and ruining paying customer's collaborative playlists.

I am also upset to see this idea is from 2012!! Let's get on it Spotify, this is 2022!!

With the issue of bots and the new "problem", that others can't delete songs from collaborative playlists, I really hope this will be implemented soon

This is unbelievable that you implemented this BS feature, when collab playlists used to be private/invite-only. You've completely ruined the experience of a collab playlist. I have some that have been shared for years between, for example, just my wife, that represents a monument to our relationship over the years. Now it's completely ruined by a bunch of random people, adding and deleting songs.

The whole Joe Rogan thing doesn't actually matter to me, as I think cancel culture is useless and doesn't work anyways. But this thing of making all collab playlists open to the public is worthy of ditching the whole platform.

Curse you

Yaaaaaaaaay! About damn time!

I’m very happy to see this arrive. Thanks again.

Now, when’s native HomePod support coming? 😉

Has this been implemented already?

I don’t see the option to “invite collaborators” to a private playlist. I still only see the option to make the whole playlist collaborative, which opens it to everyone.
