Retina MacBook Pro

Any news on an update to support the super-higher resolutiions for the Retina MacBook Pro? Everything is currently pixel doubled and looks awful in the new resolution, would be great to see an update? Smiley Happy

Updated: 2015-12-10

Hey folks, we're happy to confirm we now have Retina MacBook Pro support in the Desktop app. Thank you for your continued feedback here in the Idea Exchange, we're listening.

Please update spotify to support retina display ! we are waiting since 4 months!

n00b1337

Here is a fix for the fonts (well most of them): right click on Spotify.app -> Show Package Contents, look for Info.plist file, open it with an editor,  Just above

     </dict>

  </plist>

Place this:

     <key>NSHighResolutionCapable</key>

         <true/>

Then (this is important as the .plist files are cached rather aggressively by OS X, copy Spotify.app to a different folder, delete the file in the Applications Folder and move it back - That's all it takes.

Now would you PLEASE update the album art and icons, it really is a pain in the eyes!!! THANK YOU!!!

I, for one, am cancelling my Spotify subscription until this is remedied.

The reason is not because the graphics aren't Retina. I'd prefer they were, surely, but they're not crucial. My concern is for the text. Because your developers have repeatedly failed to follow the general recommendations for developing software on OS X — instead opting do develop custom and incompatible views — your application cannot render high-resolution text. This comes out of the box with all built-in OS X controls, so applications that haven't been updated in years still look okay.

With the majority of the Spotify application (e.g. the middle and right sidebar, but not the left sidebar) are fuzzy text. The inconsistencies are obnoxious, indicative of low-quality, and are the final straw for me. The complete dismissal of Apple's human interface guidelines and lack of consideration for the way the platform works has really worn on me over the years, especially with the terrible iPhone app.

And it isn't like Spotify is without competition — Rdio has been working stateside for longer, has fantastic native apps on several mobile platforms (I'm an iPhone user, and I can't quit drooling over the Windows Phone app as well), and the interface is so much nicer. I think Sean Parker is brilliant, and I would love to see Spotify really take off, but perhaps a little fire under the ass is needed for this to happen.

Cheers.

BUMP

Interface is horrible on retina!

It takes a minute to do  n00b1337's fix!

PUT IT IN YOUR NEXT RELEASE!

Then do the hi res icons and stuff later. (not like thats hard because your should have used vectors anyway)

I dont care about anything else... Just fix the fonts! PLEASE!

I guanantee you that if a developer at spotify had a retina macbook, it would becomes his first priority.

It's not that it isnt retina, it's that it looks really blurry. It looks like a quarter the resolution of normal, with heavy antialiasing.
