[Social] Bring back Inbox/Messaging with Notifications

The Inbox/Messaging feature did not get a real shot at even being a feature because Spotify took away notifications for new messages. Give Inbox/Messaging some development so users can continue to privately share songs.

Plus the fact that my whole history of sharing with friends in my inbox is gone. That really sucks.

I agree with the community. The messaging was one of the best qualities of spotify and I feel very
disappointed with the decision to remove it. One reason to seriously consider canceling my subscription. If there is any compassion in your hearts, please restore the messaging service. Please!

Stripping us of our messaging capabilities is a disservice, especially to paid customers. Can you not make this part of the benefit to my premium subscription? Or honor the basic features for this platform's early adopters? Many of us evangelized for Spotify, and helped you grow exponentially.

Maybe you could consider asking the heavily-engaged section of your user base what our needs and suggestions are. Please bring messaging back. I don't necessarily want to broadcast everything globally.

This feature was my favorite part of the app. Keeping the share on the app helped me and my friends to save, listen, and use the songs on Spotify easier. Using other forms of media to share songs I want to listen to using Spotify is just ridiculous. Why would I want to share the song outside of the app if I want my friend to hear the song using the app?? It's super inconvenient.

Also part of the reason not enough people were using the feature is because it isn't well publicized or accessible. If Spotify took the time to let the public know about the feature more users would use it and enjoy it.

I,too, think this feature must be reinstated.I use it every time I am on Spotify, sharing music with my son and other friends.All sharing and other messaging was all done with the minimum of fuss and no hassle.

I do not have a facebook or any other type of messaging as I don't want to be online for any other reason than music.I will be looking at rival music sites to see if they have something similar to the share/message function and if so ,I will give up Spotify and sign up to that.

One big reason to go on Spotify was being social and share my selections and songs with my friends... bring back the inbox!

I personally get a great deal of value from the feature--I like adding a message to the songs I share and having a history of what certain people have sent to me. That's because my friends and I know to use it.

However, I have noticed that sometimes I send things to people and they don't see that they have a new message. They don't get an app notification, and they don't see the little gray badge (that looks like everything else on the UI) on desktop.

It might be worth to run an experiment where you add app notifications and a red dot on the desktop. Let it run for a couple of months and then dicide if people use it or not.

I know this won't happen... The feature is good but not discoverable. No wonder people don't use it.
