[Social] Bring back Inbox/Messaging with Notifications

The Inbox/Messaging feature did not get a real shot at even being a feature because Spotify took away notifications for new messages. Give Inbox/Messaging some development so users can continue to privately share songs.

I was very dissatisfied with this feature being removed. I loved being able to send and recieve songs that my friends and I found. the new system is so annoying, why would i ever want to post songs to social media. 

if it wasn't popularlly used, it was by chance that not a lot knew about the feature, but that's spotify's problem for hiding the message box in several layers of menus (phone version) and not getting a notification system. 

I would like this feature back.

I despise social media from bottom of my heart. Sharing what I like to listen on Facebook or Tweeter? Wow. Spotify direct messages to friends and sharing music this way is awesome. Why would anyone think to take it away?

I whole heartedly agree!!!!! i have 3 brothers and we love on opposit sides of the country sending music to eachother is pretty much how we stay in touch... This was one of my favorite features on spotify. i have been with spotify since the begining and we have been sharing songs with private messages and collaborating on playlists for years. If Spotify doesnt bvring the notifications feature back i will seriously be considering moving to another platform for music that does allow that. I dont understand why they would have even considered doing away with notifications!!!!! Please, Please, Please Spotify!!!! fix this!!!!!

The one thing I thought Spotify had over other services (after Rdio went under) was the social aspect. Now it is only available on mobile, which is super lame. Why not continue something that separates you from others? Not everyone wants to switch to their phone to share a song with someone.

Hi Spotify!

This thread was actually sent to me by a friend with whom I shared tons of music through the late Inbox feature (may it rest in peace). While there was no way to erase messages from this inbox, which I found really weird, the feature was a great tool to share new music you discovered with your friends. Do you mind bringing it back from it's grave with the ability to also erase messages, you know, like a regular inbox? 🙂

I completely agree with everything above. Just came on to this to make the same comments. The inbox/direct messaging was why I started using Spotify over other platforms. I'm incredibly disappointed that this was taken away, without notification, without giving me a chance to try and salvage my years-long music exchanges with friends. PLEASE bring this feature back, with all of our existing data in tact.
