[Social] Bring back Inbox/Messaging with Notifications

The Inbox/Messaging feature did not get a real shot at even being a feature because Spotify took away notifications for new messages. Give Inbox/Messaging some development so users can continue to privately share songs.

I completely agree. I feel like the social aspect of Spotify is something that maybe wasn't utilized properly and actually held a lot of potential with messaging. I covered it lightly in my article here - Shelby Hutchison on Medium: Spotify as a Social Platform 

Basically underused features like concerts and messaging can find new meaning in combining this and more information about being social. Sharing music and concerts with friends, and identifying friends (via facebook connectivity and their own spotify interests) that are either going to, or may be interested in going to the concerts and events in your own interest feed.

First time poster, Spotify user for 7 years

The inbox messaging feature was a core feature of sharing music with my friends. Now the only feature is a mass advertisement of a track which I may not want to send to EVERY one of my followers. This just removed any semblance of PERSONAL interactions among users aside from collaborative playlists. Simply terrible.

Sad that it's gone. Would love to see it return with push notifications so that I can send my friends music without having to text it over to them on my phone.

This is just such a bad design decision. On par with with apple removing the headphone jack from the iphone. Sending people outside of your platform is so user unfriendly. You actively decided to make your product worse to save some money. Bring it back, please.

going to pandora or apple music in the next month if this isnt brought back.... If they seriously cant manage a direct private messaging extension for their customers, they do not deserve our money. And to think they just tried to slide it under everyone, took me 2 weeks to find a thread saying it had been removed. Extremely dissapoint and expecting a response from the team asap or I and thousands of others will be cancelling our subscriptions. 

(HOW CAN YOU REMOVE THE WIDGET THAT EVERYONE USED SPOTIFY FOR????????)

I too, find it extremely annoying that private messaging has been eliminated, as it was useful and a lot more convenient than other methods of sharing.

This feature is the main reason I use spotify over other platforms. I want the ability to share songs with friends of mine individually. Not all songs are appropriate to share on a facebook wall. I cannot believe you guys so thoughtlessly took down this feature. Please bring it back ASAP so that i'm not forced to look for other platforms.
