[Social] Bring back Inbox/Messaging with Notifications

The Inbox/Messaging feature did not get a real shot at even being a feature because Spotify took away notifications for new messages. Give Inbox/Messaging some development so users can continue to privately share songs.

Please, please, please bring back inbox messaging! This was my favorite feature on Spotify where I could share music finds with my boyfriend and friends! The beginning of my relationship with my boyfriend really flourished by sharing music through the inbox feature and was something we kept up and have continued to do until you've taken it away. Without it, my only option is to "post to social media" which is something I would never do. Very upsetting! I don't see the point of taking away this feature.

Dear Developers!

I would like to quite simply inform you of the facts of which you are clearly not aware concerning the state of your program. But first, let me put it into perspective:
 I have been using Spotify since 2009, when it still operated under closed policies, and had nothing worth complaining about until now, as I just joined the community exclusively to adress this matter. The matter of fact that the changes made during the time from roughley a year back has in general been to no beneficial end what so ever as far as I see it and now seems to have culminated. Things have gotten so dire that I stoped downloading and even caring about any new updates to the service last fall and went looking for older versions; where at least the placement of vital functions weren't all thrown about, occupying more space of off the main playlist interface and where I didn't have the downright stupid recommendations to deal with at the bottom of every playlist.
 Seriously! I don't want any alienage suggestions inside the lists that I've personally customized, the "Discover Weekly"-playlist is enough.
 Of course, that's not the main reason for my reclamation but it certainly ties into it as things more often than not seems to need to go too far before someone realizes what suffices without going overboard just as you did with the message-function by first nullifying the notification-system then to naturally be followed by the disuse and removal of the inbox itself (I mean, come on.. You couldn't all possibly be that inane to not be able to forsee this chain of events).

 There is a word in the swedish language for finding such middleground and as a swedish company one would hope that you'd have a better understanding for this kind of thinking. That not being a garantee, appearant enough, we as a community are after all here to point these sort of issues out for you in order for you to be able to locate and correct them. So now that you've been thuroughly enlightened by us all in here from many different angles pointing towards the same obvious conclusion, there is absolutely no other excuse for not going through with the remission of the message-function.
 Because we all make misstakes as a part of being humans and there should be no shame in admitting to such misstakes no matter how great the wall of professionalism you hide behind might be built to look, as long as you also actually own up to fixing those mistakes.
 I didn't say anything when lyrics disappeared and maybe I should have pitched into that wave of certain discontent as well since no old version of the mere application can bring that back either, but this is frigging important and I'll be a real disappointed customer if you all don't come to your senses regarding this one. It really comes around to whether or not you want this organisation to retain its purpose and overall usefulness, considering how a music-sharing service stripping itself of all the music-sharing possibilities isn't much of a music-sharing service now, is it?

To Spotify 'Chat' Team, 

Yikes. The messages/chat feature was not well thought out or done correctly in the first place, with some serious functionality missing (notifications etc). As a result, you decide that nobody is using the feature or you don't feel that it deserves the time in your product sprints. 

This entire thread thinks otherwise. 

You're choosing to ignore the social element of music, where sharing the love of music with particular individuals is essential in discovering music and users spending more time in Spotify. 

Get some serious engineers behind this product line and let's move this forward to an MVP we can be happy with. 

In the meantime, now that I'm forced to share music through other chats (imessage, fbook messenger, whatsapp), the song links auto open the web player, I'd like it to open the app on my desktop and mobile phone.

As the web player is an entirely separate issue.

Hopefully, you get this back, so I can reconnect with friends and family across the country through your music.

PLEASE Bring messages back! Like so many others, it was one of the main reasons I used Spotify over other services. I have been an avid user and evangelist since before Spotify was even released in the US, and have been a happily paying customer for years now. However, the loss of lyrics and now direct sharing is sadly causing me to consider other options.

FOR PETE SAKE Bring this feature back. You cant just "decide" to delete our personal messages, thats RUDE! you could at least warn sombody so we can back our ish up.

I loved this feature. It's so much more personal to send someone a song / artist / album and tell them how or why you think they'd like it.

I get the want to publicize and bring further integration with the big social media platforms of the world... But some of us aren't social media divas who want to blast Shares and Posts and Hashtags out to a huge population of followers.

I'm just bummed because I put so much work into my Spotify playlists and shares. And sharing now is relegated to either copying a link and sending it along (no better than something like YouTube), or blasting it to the widespread Internet.
