[Social] Bring back Inbox/Messaging with Notifications

The Inbox/Messaging feature did not get a real shot at even being a feature because Spotify took away notifications for new messages. Give Inbox/Messaging some development so users can continue to privately share songs.

Totally support this! This is one of the reasons that made me use Spotify. Because music is social, I like to share it with my friends as well as receive new music from them. It's great to combine the two. Granted, this feature was not perfect, in particular in terms of notifications that simply didn't work most of the time. But if it couldn't be fixed I could have lived with it. Now, if it's simply removed, it changes completely how I am interacting with Spotify, and makes me reconsider being a member...

My now boyfriend and I were set up by my roommate that I didn't know too well. Considering the fact that he might be a murderer (because that's what you have to think when you're a single woman) we started off texting. Then, we started following each other on spotify and sending music to each other that we liked. It was such a cool way to get to know someone. After about a month of knowing he couldn't be a murderer and listen to artist like Poolside at the same time, I decided to go out for drinks. Two years later, still going strong. Music was and is a HUGE part of our relationship. If you take away this funtionality you could rob people of building great friendships and relationships! You don't want to be that person. Nobody does.

I was browsing through Spotify for about 20 minutes before I tried to find a solution in the community. The reason for me taking so long; I did not think that for a million years that Spotify would discontinue the direct messaging/sharing feature on their platform!! I am actually furious about this update, and if Spotify is not bringing this feature back, they are likely to lose their most valuable competitive advantage compared to other platforms thereby pushing customers away and lowering the quality of the Spotify offering. 

This is beyond my comprehension.

Seriously? It's absurd that you would remove one of your core (albeit totally broken) features without a new sharing alternative to compensate. At a bare minimum, you needed to email users to allow them to save their inbox playlists. Once again, Spotify demonstrates a complete failure to prioritize customer experience. As soon as I have the time, I plan to export my playlists and switch to Google Play.

This is unbelievable and unacceptable! I just found out that I've lost all the messages of my inbox..I had some really important stuff in there and thinking that's all gone is very frustrating! If someone knows why they did it and if there's a way to bring it back please let me know and dear Spotify, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do something about it real soon

YES PLEASE DO THIS! I am a college student and sending songs to my friends was one way that we really liked to keep in contact. The way that you have it set up now so that it links to facebook instead of directly in the app is not as user friendly and also eliminates the ability to share songs with friends who don't have facebook accounts. Private messaging is an important aspect of any social media site and if you want your service to continue to have a social component then you should continue to offer this ability.

I agree! I recentely moved to Mexico from Chicago, and sharing songs on Spotify was a wonderful way for me and my buddies to stay in touch. Why was it taken away? Why weren't we notified? Spotify adds to my life in so many ways--why now detract from it?
